Time Lady Katie
The Lily Girl
That wasn’t going to happen today.
Just what in the love of hell do you think you’re doing, Adelaide? chided the spirit in the Captain’s mind. The question was a good one. Adelaide stood with the scythe of Lashiel released and strapped to her back, holding a pillow instead. Any rational person would ask what was going on. Lashiel too.
Arms folded and a pillow tightly grasped in her hand, Adelaide looked out over the Atlantic. Her home was somewhere out there, such as it was. Perhaps it wasn’t lost to the currents of the ocean, but it certainly was lost to the currents of time. “Something he said in Arabia,” she responded aloud.
You weren’t in the Arabian, you were in the Sahara.
Ignoring the interruption, Adelaide continued, “Everyone took an interest in him except his Captain. While I’ve never been able to tell you what the hell Kago was thinking on an average day, I know even less why he wouldn’t show an interest in his recruits. I meet every one of mine personally. I understand them. I care for them.” She huffed. Maybe that was one of the un-Captain-y things she did, like not wearing her haori. She cared. Lilith had cared, though, and that was the only model Adelaide cared to follow.
There was a skepticism in Lashiel’s tone, This isn’t even a little about his flirting with a certain subordinate of yours? Territorialism has long been one of your more admirable traits. Leave it to a fallen angel to consider that admirable.
“No,” she replied, still talking to herself. “If Kago isn’t going to be bothered initiating this boy into the Enchanted Blades, and if he insists on these... ridiculous weapons the least I can do is show him what waits for him with the harmony of weapon and magic. Poor kid’s got no one teaching him. Normally I have my hands full with the people I actually want to teach, but this ‘challenge’ system affords me a little spare time and the right situation.” A self-assured smile played on the Captain’s face, “So, let’s educate.”
You’re so... the spirit paused, then completed her thought, annoying.
