Kidou / Gintou Submission Thread

Shirohitsugi (White Coffin) - Bakudou #90, 6500 KidouDescription: An exceptionally potent Kidou when surrounded by enemies. A coffin of energy forms around the user, giving off glaring white light. The box seals the user inside so that they cannot move for the duration of the spell.

Every turn, dozens of white spears shoot out from every side of the coffin, piercing anything in the vicinity of ten feet. The coffin itself acts as a barrier to outside attacks, though it wears down with each attack. Its normal duration is three turns.

Incantation: The oracle forsakes life, the god imprisons himself. Ten spears, one hundred wounds, one thousand tears bombard the gardens in exchange for soul and freedom. Bakudou #90, Shirohitsugi.

Kurohitsugi (Black Coffin) - Hadou #90, 6500 KidouDescription: An extremely powerful Kidou used on a single opponent. A box of black energy forms around the target, which is then pierced by dozens of energy "spears", lacerating the one inside from head to toe. The size of this attack can fit practically any single target.

Incantation: The oracle's fever grows, the chained god releases his fury. Ten spears, one hundred wounds, one thousand tears shed in mourning. Hadou #90, Kurohitsugi.

Avalanche - Hadou #92, 7000 Kidou
Description: The user slams his/her hands into the ground, infusing it with kidou energy to a point where the ground ruptures and snow and ice erupts like lava erupts from a volcano. The large wave of snow and ice then rapidly flows towards the target, enveloping everything in snow with its icy grip. The wave is 30 feet thick and it has no definite width since the dense snow and ice will keep on flowing into every corner, destroying everything on its path.

As the snow rises upward, it will slowly begin to ice over, turning into a large sphere-like iceberg that traps all caught in it inside until it collapses violently, crushing everything caught within the attack.

Incantation: Let the fury of Mother Nature arise. Freeze over the land as you would Hell and bring forth a new Ice Age. Hadou #92, Avalanche!

Hyouga Seiran (Glacier Vapor Storm) - Hadou #94, 8250 Kidou
Description: The user thrusts their weapon forward after completing the spell. A massive wave of ice and snow crashes forward in a widening cone, capable of freezing its targets and the surrounding area up to 50m in front of the caster. The width of the cone is half of its length.

Incantation: Winter's breath, the glacial apocalypse. Forty-three ice floes, seventy-two white rivers. A gelid landscape remains. Hadou #94, Hyouga Seiran.

Volcanic Summit - Hadou #95, 8,500 Kidou
Description: While reciting the incantation, the caster will stretch out their arms with the palms facing down and begin channeling their reiatsu at a specific point on the ground up to 100 meters. Towards the end of the incantation user will turn palms upwards, causing the ground chosen to shift and elevate. Once the incantation is finished magma will erupt from the peak and shoot as far as 70 meters in all directions.

Incantation: Swirling Hell. Passionate Earth. Eighty-five ash-covered birds. Stone statues. Ten days of desolation, ten nights of pyroclastic debris. Hadou #95, Volcanic Summit.

Since we have the canon incant for Kuro, and its much more epic, I request that Kuro's incant be changed to the canon form below, I also am subbing a few new incants so that the 90+ kidou have roughly similar length incants as it made no sense that 91 needed a small poem to use while stuff like avalanche needed 20 words. (Also I like mine better)

Kurohitsugi (Black Coffin) - Hadou #90, 6500 Kidou
Description
: An extremely powerful Kidou used on a single opponent. A box of black energy forms around the target, which is then pierced by dozens of energy "spears", lacerating the one inside from head to toe. The size of this attack can fit practically any single target.

Incantation: The crest of turbidity, seeping out. An insolent vessel of madness. Boiling up, denying, numbness, blinking, obstructing slumber. The steel princess who creeps. The mud doll, ever disintegrating. Unite! Oppose! Filling the earth, know your own impotence.

Incantation:
Nature herself descends, her wrath flows down gathering momentum to topple all that lies before her. The land itself is stripped bare beneath the white wave. Tremble piteous soul, seek warmth, and beg for mercy before the great mother’s icy will. Hadou #92 Avalanche

Hell itself freezes before the power to start an Ice Age.

Incantation:
The devil himself reduces the world to cinders, all around the children scream as all they have known is reduced to naught but ash. The flames of war dance, the fallen’s cries block out the victory chants. Hadou #95, Volcanic Summit.

Shirohitsugi (White Coffin) - Bakudou #90, 6500 Kidou
Description
: An exceptionally potent Kidou when surrounded by enemies.

Incantation: The crown of steadiness devours itself. The heretic seeks sanctuary from the avalanche of sanity. The iron prince wallows in exile. Separate! Surrender! The reigning king, flooding down persecution, expands beyond limits. Filling the heavens with his divine will. Bakudou #90, Shirohitsugi.

To bring Banshisei (simplified spelling, whee) in line with the rules other kidou follow, we'll be giving it a set cost. There are now higher ranks and extensions. While it won't require 1.4x the cost to work, it will require you to meet or beat the cost of the targeted bakudou.

Banshisei - Hadou #28, 500 Kidou
Description: A Bakudou removal spell. Forcing reiatsu out of their body to counter the opponents', this spell requires physical contact with the target spell, but can disperse Bakudou of equal or lesser cost almost instantly.

Incantation: The captured begs for freedom, selling their souls for a chance to escape. The cornered man forcing his last hand. Hadou #28, Banshisei.

Extension: Ruzai, 500 Kidou. Doubling the energy released, Ruzai adds to Banshisei's banishing properties, dispelling Bakudou equal to or less than the cost of Banshisei and Ruzai.

Incantation
: Hadou #28 part two, Ruzai.
Keshisaru - Hadou #51, 1000 Kidou
Description: A more powerful Bakudou removal spell. The caster focuses a great amount of energy out of the user to push away and nullify a Bakudou spell. This spell requires physical contact with the target spell, but can disperse Bakudou of equal or lesser cost almost instantly.

Incantation: The captured roars for freedom, trembling before the grim toll at the gates. Iron bars, green nails, the white doves fly free. Hadou #51, Keshisaru.

Extension: Fuki Kesu, 1500 Kidou. A second, even greater burst of energy combines with the first, erasing all Bakudou equal to or less than the cost of Keshisaru and Fuki Kesu.

Incantation
: Hadou #51 part two, Fuki Kesu.
Harasu - Hadou #80, 4000 Kidou
Description: The greatest Bakudou removal spell. The caster concentrates a large amount of reiatsu and lets it burst out suddenly. This spell requires physical contact with the target spell, but can disperse Bakudou of equal or lesser cost almost instantly.

Incantation: The captured gives his life to escape, beats down the doors of the cell. One hundred guards, one thousand keys, the march to freedom, the horn of the redeemed. Hadou #80, Harasu.

Extension: Arai Nagasu, 4000 Kidou. A second burst of spiritual pressure immediately after the first, this extension will break through all but the strongest of bindings. It will immediately blow away any bakudou equal to or less than the cost of Harasu and Arai Nagasu.

Incantation
: Hadou #80 part two, Arai Nagasu.

Radiant Run - Bakudou #65, 1350 Kidou
Description: After chanting this kidou, the user emits light from one hand-- The user can instantly move themselves to any point illuminated by that light. The light can be reflected by a clever user, making this kidou able to cross vast distances instantly. If they know the area well, they can travel up to 100m.

Incantation: Portals of the neutral world, lend your use to me! Allow me to step through your lands freely! Bakudou #65, Radiant Run!

Water Walk - Bakudou #66, 1350 Kidou
Description: After chanting this kidou, the user steps into a puddle that is bigger than they are, and comes out of a puddle in a different area. If the person is unfamiliar with the area, they are limited to what they can see, either by their own sight or by the use of kidou. If they know the area well, they can travel up to 100m.

Incantation: Portals of the neutral world, lend your use to me! Allow me to step through your lands freely! Bakudou #66, Water Walk!

Step of Shadows - Bakudou #67, 1350 Kidou
Description: After chanting this kidou, the user steps into an area of shadows that is bigger than they are, and comes out of the shadows in a different area. The shadow must be of an object and not of a person, including their own shadow. If the person is unfamiliar with the area, they are limited to what they can see, either by their own sight or by the use of kidou. If they know the area well, they can travel up to 100m.

Incantation: Portals of the neutral world, lend your use to me! Allow me to step through your lands freely! Bakudou #67, Step of Shadows!
Changes to account for the difference in Shunpo.

Rather than 10x Shunpo (which would be 150m), it's toned back a bit to 100m. It's worth noting that if bypassed, these spells would cap out at 50m, if the user is familiar with the territory.

Sandals of Hermes - Bakudou #16, 120 Kidou

Hermes possessed sandals that enabled him to fly or glide across the ground. This kidou is based off of those legendary sandals. The winds will gather underneath the user's feet as the incantation is spoken. The winds will then form a sphere under each foot which allows the user to move on the ground as if they were skating at 1.5x the user's hohou.

Incantation: Borrow the wings of Hermes and outrun the armies against you! Bakudou #16, Sandals of Hermes.

Replaced Kidou: Encumber - Bakudou #16, 120 Kidou
Reasoning: Quite frankly, this spell is rarely used. It serves little to no purpose, as Bakudou #1, its extension, and Atlas do the same job rather well.

Denied.

We have a flat cost here for a % return. Not only that, but it's available at the very bottom dregs of the Kidou list. Picture this in the hands of someone like Shunsen: for 120 reiatsu, he could increase his 13k Hohou to ~20k, for an indeterminate length of time. Even if he bypassed the spell, it would still increase his hohou by an amount exponentially higher than the cost: over 3,000 points to his main stat at a cost of 120 rei.

In order for this to work, you'll need a higher rank, higher cost, and a specific buff that's comparable to that cost.

Sandals of Hermes - Bakudou #33, 350 Kidou

Hermes possessed sandals that enabled him to fly or glide across the ground. This kidou is based off of those legendary sandals. The winds will gather underneath the user's feet as the incantation is spoken. The winds will then form a sphere under each foot which allows the user to move on the ground as if they were skating. The cost paid into this spell increases the mobility and speed of the person by the amount paid into it. Example: If someone with 1000 hohou used this spell, they would skate at speeds of 1350 hohou. While skating, the user may not shunpo. This last for three rounds, but the skater may cancel the spell at any point before that.

Incantation: I don the wings of Hermes and evade the armies that rise against me! Bakudou #33, Sandals of Hermes.

Approved with changes:

Sandals of Hermes - Bakudou #33, 350 Kidou
Description: Hermes possessed sandals that enabled him to fly or glide across the ground. This kidou is based off of those legendary sandals. The winds will gather underneath the user's feet as the incantation is spoken. The winds will then form a sphere under each foot which allows the user to move on the ground as if they were skating.

While active, the user's speed is increased to the user's Hohou + 350. This lasts for three rounds.

Incantation: I don the wings of Hermes and evade the armies that rise against me! Bakudou #33, Sandals of Hermes.
The change in wording is subtle but makes a difference. If the spell simply increases the user's Hohou by 350, then it makes room for stacking. With double-casting, the buff could be stacked six times, and with kidou amplifiers, it could get quite powerful. That's not even counting shenanigans with delayed casting like Kansei or Control Dolls.

So, instead, the spell increases the user's Hohou to Hohou + 350. Non-kidou Hohou buffs will be applied normally.

Edit: I should also note that Techs are based on natural stats. You can't use this spell to, say, give yourself Shunpo for three rounds.

Figured I may as well make some gintou...even if I'm nowhere near being able to use most of them... :P

Zurückhalten (Restraint) -- Hemmen -- 200 Gintou

By calling spirit particles to the extremities of an opponent, the user calls five thick sliver cords into being form the collected reishi, winding them about the opponent's wrists, legs, and neck; holding them immobile for two turns.

Kreuzigung (Crucifixion) -- Hemmen -- 3500 Gintou

An extension of Zurückhalten, Kreuzigung is cast exactly in the same manner however, the result is infinitely more powerful. Holding their limbs outstretched the target is raised ten feet into the air as the cords tighten and begin to pull the target's limbs from their body. Lasts three turns, and if, by the third turn the target is unable to escape, their limbs will be pulled from their torso.

Reinigung (Purification) -- Verbessem -- 1500 Gintou

By calling reishi into their bloodstream, the user is able to purge their body of foreign reiatsu, cleansing the Quincy of the effects of abilities that may have been used to hinder or confuse them.

Essenz von Blitz (Essence of Lightning) -- Gerade -- 200 Gintou

By collecting reishi around their heart, the user is able to amplify their body's natural electric current. By channeling the amplified power down their arms to their hands, this Gintou allows a Quincy to imbue any number arrows fired that turn with lightning. The additional power added to each arrow is equal to (200 - the number of arrows x 10) divided by the number of arrows.

Zuruckhalten (Restraint) Approved

Kreuzigung (Crucifixion) Denied.
You have a binding effect which can kill the target if they don't escape, regardless of reiatsu: that's no good. Also, it sort of bugs me that it's called crucifixion (being restrained to a crucifix and left to die from starvation and exposure) when it's more like death-by-ordeal or being drawn and quartered.

Reinigung (Purification) Approved with changes:

Verbessem Reinigung (Purification) - 1500 Gintou

By calling reishi into their bloodstream, the user is able to purge their body of foreign reiatsu, cleansing or weakening abilities that are impairing the Quincy. It may take multiple casts to cleanse stronger effects, but once an effect is purified, the Quincy is immune to that effect for the following two rounds.

Essenz von Blitz (Essence of Lightning) Denied. Gerade is for direct-fire gintou, meaning exactly that. Something like this is more akin to Enhancement (keep in mind there's only one more spot for Enhancement left). The numbers here are also rather confusing.

Kure'n Gaikotsu no Sōko (Storehouse of the Crane's Skeleton) - Bakudō #80, 3,500 Kidō

Description: The user manifests through Kidō a vast amount of long blades roughly 30 feet across and 10 inches wide. The user uses his arms to move them into place, making a pyramid out of them around the opponent. From the four sides of the pyramid, many more of the blades poke through and form all around the opponent within the bottom of the pyramid; They do not touch or attack him, they are only there to complete the truly extravagant trapping that the edges of every blade of the pyramid creates. All the blades are placed as such that the opponent cannot move more than a few inches without being sliced.

Every one of the blade's edges are facing the opponent, leaving the pyramid open and leaving gaps between every single blade. Upon the user shifting his palm upwards, he can cause the blades to invert and create an enclosed pyramid around the opponent within.

Incantation: "Twist passionately as we forgive you for your death. Forgive the siblings of the Sun and lead us from your armageddon. Be reborn in the ashes of vengeful and punish your enemy's step. Weeping East and victorious West, fly from the South and break into the Northern heavens. Bakudō #80, Kure'n Gaikotsu no Sōko!"

Feint, Hadou #52, 1,000 Kidou
Description:
In essence, Feint itself does nothing. However, this simple fact belies its true power. Feint is cast in place of any other Hadou or Bakudou (User must have sufficient Kidou to 'cast' the spell in question however), mimicking the Reiatsu expenditure and physical effects of any other Kidou spell, however the effects of the spell in question are not summoned. Feint has no incantation of its own, and is cast by speaking the incantation of another Kidou. This spell primarily exists as a bait-and-switch maneuver or a way to spur a foe to action.

The caster of Feint need not have the mimicked spell equipped, only the minimum Kidou to cast it and knowledge of the incantation.

Kure'n Gaikotsu no Souko - Approved with changes.

Kure'n Gaikotsu no Souko (Storehouse of the Crane's Skeleton) - Bakudou #80, 3,500 Kidou

Description: The user manifests through Kidou a vast amount of long blades, 10 inches wide. These blades form a triangular pyramid around the opponent, with 12-foot long edges, leaving about 8 feet between floor and the apex. The floor of the pyramid is flat, but the walls are formed entirely of blades facing inward, with 10-inch gaps between each blade. After the first turn, the blades turn, entrapping the target in a solid metal pyramid.

Incantation: Twist passionately as we forgive you for your death. Forgive the siblings of the Sun and lead us from your Armageddon. Weeping East and victorious West, fly from the South and break into the Northern heavens. Bakudou #80, Kure'n Gaikotsu no Souko!

Feint... Denied. Although I can see what you're going for with this, for the most part people can already feint if they know the incantation (and the opponent does). Adding full-on illusionary Black Coffins would be abused more than a little. The way this spell works, there's no indication that the spell isn't real, so you can end up paying 1,000 reiatsu to Feint and have someone waste a one-shot barrier like Dankuu (5,000 reiatsu).

Or what about a Feint Ginshinrin or Feint Kuiki Kansei (Kuiki Kansei is a trap barrier -- touch it and a bakudou goes off)?

In order for this to pass, it would need to be limited to a certain range of kidou and have some indicator for skilled practitioners to recognize the fake-out.

Daigeki no Taka (Falcon Strike) - Hadou #69, 1600 Kidou

Description: An improved version of the basic Hadou, Demon Fist, the user amasses reiatsu within one limb. This allows for an explosive melee strike, making it a favored kidou among hakuda specialists. Visually, a large falcon made of kidou flames will manifest itself on the limb. When launched, the falcon will screech and flap its wings to give the user a boost of acceleration with the attack. This kidou is very difficult to conceal due to its explosive release of power on contact; all of the channeled reiatsu is forced out of the limb to severely damage the victim and anything within 10 meters behind the victim. However, this energy can be damaging if the user's kidou skills aren't powerful enough to fully withstand and control the powerful energy within his/her body. If the user of this kidou has less than 2000 kidou, then the limb will be damaged for one quarter of the cost of Sutoraiku no Taka.

Incantation: Bird of prey, traveller of the winds, guardian of the forest. Lend me your strength and beauty to annihilate those who would threaten our territory. Hadou #69, Sutoraiku no Taka!

Approved with changes:

Daigeki no Taka (Falcon Punch) - Hadou #69, 1600 Kidou

Description: An improved version of the basic Hadou, Demon Fist, the user amasses reiatsu within one limb. This allows for an explosive melee strike, making it a favored kidou among hakuda specialists. Visually, a large falcon made of kidou flames will manifest itself on the limb. When launched, the falcon will screech and flap its wings to give the user a boost of acceleration with the attack. This kidou is very difficult to conceal due to its explosive release of power on contact; all of the channeled reiatsu is forced out of the limb to severely damage the victim and anything within a cone reaching 5 meters behind the victim. However, this energy can be damaging if the user's kidou skills aren't powerful enough to fully withstand and control the powerful energy within his/her body. If the user of this kidou has less than 4000 kidou, then the limb will be hit by backlash equal to one fourth of Falcon Punch's power..

Incantation: Bird of prey, traveller of the winds, guardian of the forest. Lend me your strength and beauty to annihilate those who would threaten our territory. Hadou #69, Sutoraiku no Taka!

5 meters (~15 feet) seems a more fitting range for a 3-slot kidou.

The "if the user isn't as skilled as" requirements usually are at least 2x the cost of the spell. Otherwise someone would hardly ever encounter them.

Also, don't try to hide the source of your inspiration.

I propose replacing Bakudou number 7

Mujuuryou (Zero Gravity) - Bakudou #7, 70 Kidou

Description: For a brief seven seconds, gravity ceases to affect the caster, nullifying downward acceleration.

Incantation: Natural law undone! The world turned on its head, the apple high in the tree. Bakudou #7, Mujuuryou.

with

(Uh, I don't really have a new name for it)
Mujuuryou (Zero Gravity) - Bakudou #7, 70 Kidou

Description: Creates a force around the user that pushes in the opposite direction they are currently traveling. This force will slow the user down and eventually stop them and is even strong enough to work against gravity. This lasts until the user is stopped or one round has passed (assuming something really powerful is pushing on the user that overpowers this kidou).

Incantation: Spin and twirl, the cat's cradle shall shimmer in the sky. Bakudou #7 Mujuuryou.

Why. I honestly like Mujuuryou and it has a nice effect but I'm assuming most people who equip it want to use it to break falls. If I assume wrong than cancel this replacement. But Mujuuryou, as it's worded, is pretty bad at that. The reasons involve real world physics though. If anyone wants to know the reason,

Clicky
Acceleration and velocity are two different things. Gravity is acceleration as stated in the spell effect. Even if you stop the acceleration, you are still falling at the same speed as before, you just won't fall any faster for those 7 seconds.

Taking another meaning where you cancel the velocity, well it's the stop that injures people, not the fall. The ground also cancels velocity so it would have the same effect as smacking into the ground anyway.

In order to be effective, someone would need to cast it every 7 seconds before they fall too fast until they get a safe distance away from the ground.

Anyway, this new spell can slow down against gravity as well as being pushed away, thrown about or even you going to fast and needing a brake. The effect takes time to work so people can't cast it a few feet away from something and expect to be safe though.

WE NEED TO FILL UP THE 90+ BAKUDOU SLOTS!!

I strongly suggest that the lame incantations and spell names be changed (with the exception of Fukyuu...)

Raiden Tougyou (Lightning Control) - Bakudou #89, 6000 Kidou

The caster points their finger at their target in a fashion similar to Byakurai. A highly charged bolt of electricity shoots out from it. If this bolt meets the target's head or mask, the actual kidou will activate. The electricity will permeate through the brain, going into the nerves. Now the caster can manipulate the electric signals sent by the brain to the nerves, indulging in subtle sense manipulation.

For the 5-turn duration of the spell, the user can control the target's five senses. They can make them see what is not there, feel pain where there is no wound and deafen their hearing, amongst others. However, multiple things can not be done at once, and the caster must wait one turn before changing the effect of this spell.

Incantation: The cackle of thunder, the flash of lightning! O Zeus, help the righteous bend their foe their will, so that the river of blood may stop flooding. Bakudou #89, Raiden Tougyou!
________________________________________________________________________

Fukuzei (Ambush) - Bakudou #92, 7000 Kidou

Fukuzei is the strongest 'mousetrap' kidou known, but it requires the user's entire concentration to be cast effectively. As the user recites the incantation, they become aware of the entire area within a fifteen meter radius. Within this area, they can store any amount of hadou and bakudou as long as the total cost of all the spells is within 6500. The lesser the amount of reiatsu alloted to the spell costs is, the longer they can be contained. The longest any spell can be contained is 10 turns.

As each spell is stored, a blue circle appears wherever it is imprinted. These circles can not be more than a meter above ground and become transparent the second after they appear. The moment one of these circles are touched, the kidou stored within is set off.

Incantation: The master of concealment hides the sword in the explosion. The king is ambushed; the enemy is plotted against. Tears, blood, rain follow as the sinner is killed, as vengeance is fulfilled. Bakudou #92, Fukuzei.
________________________________________________________________________

Fukyuu (Immortal) - Bakudou #97, 9000 Kidou

Considered by some as a forbidden spell because of its sheer power, Fukyuu is one of the strongest barrier spells around, although it may also be considered as a destroying spell. Once the incantation has been completed, the user's body is enveloped in a special type of energy, known as Oni-Senshou, that is the antithesis of reiatsu and, hence, bears a colour that is opposite the colour of the user's reiatsu. Because of this, this kidou is especially difficult to cast and maintain.

Any reiatsu-powered technique that comes into contact with Oni-Senshou is instantly disintegrated, the cost of the technique wearing down the kidou by that amount. Oni-Senshou is corrosive to any spiritual beings with the exception of the user -- anytime it touches them, their skin is burned away. This drains from the kidou by 10% of the user's melee stat.

Because of the complicated nature of this kidou, maintaining it is a difficult task. It can be maintained for only five turns by even the most skilled of users.

Incantation: No darkness without light, no good without evil, no rose without thorns and no yin without yang. The light god renounces himself in hope that the evil demon will save the world. Bakudou #97, Fukyuu!

With Mujuuryou, I see the problem, but I don't much like the revised version of the spell. So, Approved with (further) changes:

Mujuuryou (Zero Gravity) - Bakudou #7, 70 Kidou
Description: For a brief seven seconds (less than one turn), the user is brought to a halt and gravity ceases to affect the caster. Their body is rapidly but safely decelerated and all downward acceleration on their body is nullified while the bakudou is in effect.

Incantation: Natural law undone! The world turned on its head, the apple high in the tree. Bakudou #7, Mujuuryou.

Physics are still a little twisted, but it more clearly describes the effect without turning into a splat in mid-air.

Raiden Tougyou - Denied. It's too open-ended for a flat cost, doing too much without restriction.

Fukuzei - Denied. The idea itself might work, but it highlights the need for an adjustment to Kansei and Fushibi (since they have no limit to what level of traps can be stored). Until that's resolved, it's hard to balance how much a high-level multi-trap can store.

Fukyuu - Denied. This is similar and perhaps stronger in a way than the 10k Hakuda tech. I don't think we need any skin-barriers as kidou, particularly not ones that can affect the user's melee skills.
