[8th] [Open] Week---: Training

Ignoring Hikaru’s bold line of questioning, Kago chose to address the apology offered by the girl referred to as Tia. “It is quite alright. I am sure that my appearance drew quite more attention than I had initially hoped,” he explained vaguely.

Based on the few moments of interaction he had observed from the group, the orange eyed teen seemed impatient and foolhardy. The nobleman would not be surprised to hear him pushing the limits of ‘proper’ and press him further for information regarding his identity. In fact, the former tactician nearly hoped it would come sooner rather than later; after all, he expected more out of the members of the eighth division than the rest of the Gotei.

The rest, however, he had yet to figure out. Clearly, Adelaide was the most senior member of the family; however, Tia was exerting a more ‘older-sister’ vibe at the moment. The youngest one, referred to as Adele, appeared more catlike and than human to Kago and her perky purple ears pulled in more attention than he cared to admit. Although intrigued by the strange anomaly, he knew better than to bring it up in conversation, especially in front of the Briton.

Diverting his eyes to the last of the unfamiliars, the captain took in the form of Ren and felt a sort of connection with the girl. Part of it, he assumed, was due to her strikingly similar appearance to his wife Sophia; carefully speculating on the remainder, he wondered if it was due to her meek and warm welcome she offered. Delicate as she seemed, he noticed a hidden strength to her silence and decided to study her further.

“Ren, was it?” Kago inquired, even though he was sure of her name. “Adelaide-taichou said that you were a member of the Mystics. If you do not mind me posing this question in front of your superior, would you care to share your experience under her lead? I am always intrigued to hear outside opinions of those who have studied under the guidance of great leaders, such as Takimoto Kago.”

Diverting his glance to the Mystic captain for the briefest of moments, he winked at her and quickly returned his attention to Ren.

The kimono clad female offered a slight chuckle when Hikaru was berated by the nekogami. It was often a cute act to watch the young Pierce treat Hikaru in such a way, to try to straighten him out and break his rude attitude he so often had. The Mystic simply kept her hands folded in her lap, looking around their table and the teahouse itself. Kago's voice broke her eyes from wandering and drew her attention to the former assassin.

"Mh? I don't believe I've ever heard of Takimoto Kago... his name sounds familiar though. Was he a former captain?" she asked before realizing it was rather rude to pose a question to the nobleman's own. Ren casted a look at her captain, a faint smile coming across her features. "Adelaide-taichou's a good leader. She was one of the first people I met in the Tenth and when I met her, she brought out a side of me I thought died off years ago. As did Adele-chan," the ebony haired woman gestured towards her friend, smiling wider. "She may not be a perfect leader or a perfect friend, but she's a good one of both nonetheless and that's all I can ask for from her. She leads us well and she cares for us even moreso."

"Humph, Kago. I've never heard of you-" the mage stopped short in his sentence, and pondered the man's name, Wait a minute...Takimoto... Kago... Then with a bolt of understanding struck him, and a fearful expression flashed across his face, "Holy crap you're the captain!" the exclaiming young man shouted almost, then dropped low out of his chair into a deep bow, "Don't roast me alive!!"

The mage was honestly scared now, and people weren't usually the sort of thing that scared him senseless like that, but death was death, and the boy had seen enough in his life to know he didn't wanna taste it. What if he's another Adelaide!? Or worse? He might just torture me for fun, then kill me for disrespect! The still bowing teen's mind reeled with possibilities of how he might die by his captain's hand, fire didn't scare the spellblade as much as before, but it was still a terrible and painfull way to die, and the boy had already decided he didn't want to be incinerated again.

Hmm, looks like you and your mouth have gotten you in a real pickle huh, sparky? Queenie had woken from her stupor, and had been listening quietly on the exchanges between her shinigami and the captain. That idiot's gonna get himself killed, why do I have to babysit? the violet-eyed maiden complained in her mind, I'd kill him myself but the idiot's grown on me now, she added stretching, I wanted to see how his pudding idea went.

Oh, well guess you won't live to hear my true name.

The boy was a bit to occupied with his own fears of death, to pay any attention to his spirit's droning, and instead wondered, I wonder how an assassin burns his victims, medium rare or well done?

"What are you rambling on about?" Tia scolded Hikaru, "Noble-san isn't Takimoto Kago-san! He would have said so if that was his name!" She sighed. "You've been zoning out too much. He just asked to hear about people who trained under Takimoto-san, so obviously Noble-san isn't him." The ravenette rolled her eyes, but refrained from hitting Hikaru.

Adele looked at the mystery man for a moment. She vaguely recalled seeing a captain that looked like him at the World Tournament at the Taishuu for Lucia Frey. ...though Miyazaki has come to this conclusion completely by mistake, he's right. Then why hadn't the man introduced himself as Kago? Why hadn't Adelaide, who recognized the man? The nekogami supposed that Takimoto was pretending not to be himself because he didn't want to be recognized.

Adelaide-chan, that's Takimoto-taichou, isn't it? I remember seeing him at the Taishuu fights in the World Tournament. The Mystic wasn't sure whether or not she was correct, but in the case that she was....

"Miyazaki, please don't shout. It's too early in the morning for that and I'm already cross with you. Oji-san isn't Takimoto-taichou. If he was a captain, wouldn't we be able to feel his reiatsu? Further more, I've seen Takimoto-taichou before and Oji-san isn't him." Taking her cup of tea back from Tia, the nekogami calmly took a sip, discreetly shooting the noble a look over the top of her drink. Her eyes turned grey for the briefest of moments before returning to their natural hazel hue.

Tia took a bite of her bagel feeling rather smug. She looked at Hikaru and smirked. Ha! She then turned her attention back to Ren, who by far was much less annoying than Reshin or Hikaru. "Ren-san," she said quietly, gently tapping the older woman's arm, "I'm sorry I was so short with you earlier. I thought you'd be like Hikaru or Reshin, but now I can see why Nee-chan spoke well of you. You're nicer than Hika-teme or Reshin-teme."

[332/2255]

The mage jumped back to his feet at Tia's comment, and nearly shouted his indignation across the table at the younger soul, "Who you calling mean, bighead!?" Hikaru had forgotten his earlier fear, and regained his usual hotheadedness to engage in a rather childish, verbal combat with the adolescent soul, "Your 'greetings' earlier, were two about two words away from calling me an idiot," the mage cried, "But I'm the mean one?"

Calm yourself boy! The violet eyed spirit was becoming nervous at her owners outbursts, That re-headed girl from earlier almost killed him, If this man is who Hikaru thinks he is, then his wrath might be worse. the zan spirit paced back and forth quickly in her gloomy abode, fretting over her shinigami's well being as well as her own, And what about that Adele girl, she was a noble now. What would she do?

“Being two words away from calling you an idiot is a downright ladylike measure of kindness, Miyazaki,” the Captain snickered as she brought a teacup to her lips. One taishuu at any rate. He owes an explanation for the other, she transmitted the thought to her young kittygami sister, though her glare was fixed on Hikaru at the moment. She wanted him to feel the fire in her eyes; even if Adele was joining in in the ‘Kago-isn’t-Kago game, thus undermining Hikaru accidentally being right, the Mystic wanted to remind him that his feet were still to the flame.

And, that moment simply passed. She turned her glance back to Kago, sending another quick thought to the fellow Captain this time; Adele saw you at Frey’s taishuu, that just seems an unfair advantage to me. She also felt a need to take a small, friendly jab at him given the interesting uniqueness of the moment. “Oh, that compassion is a result of my training under former Captains Maikeru and Senesati. My time with Takimoto Kago was far more responsible for lighting his subordinate on fire that one time than anything else.” After all, he did kill her that one time. Fair is fair.

“Besides,” continued the Briton as several waitresses delivered cups of tea to various patrons. The food was still being prepared, “I don’t recall Takimoto Kago having an overly teacherly first impression. In fact, I recall being his kidou instructor,” she brought her teacup toward her mouth to assist in muttering under her breath “for about ten minutes.”

"What!" Tia glared at Miyazaki. "You're the one who molested my sister you jerk! At least Reshin-san kept his butt to himself if not his eyes!" The small girl was fired up. This guy was not going to expect her to be nice to him after he "twerked" on his sister after drugging her. "And what's worse you drugged her to do it! I'm sick and tired of people expecting me to be nice to complete strangers, especially ones who take advantage of my sister! I swear if you hurt my Nee-chan or give her any weird substances again I'll become a shinigami just to kill you!" The pale girl raged.

Standing up she grabbed the swordmage by the front of his shirt. "Call me another name! I dare you! I don't care who teaches you, I'll-"

"Tia-chan," Adele interrupted her sister, her voice soft but firm.

"But Onee-chan!" The civilian girl protested. "He's just like Kenshi!"

The nekogami froze. "Please don't bring him up," the feline Mystic looked down.

"Gomene," The youngest Pierce sibling sat down looking oddly subdued. She hadn't meant to remind her big sister of something that hurt her feelings.

"It's alright, Ti-chan," Adele didn't look up, her fingers tightening into fists in her lap.

Ren turned to face her friend after the little exchange of words between Tia and Hikaru. The vampire Mystic reached over to her friend's shoulder, gently rubbing it and letting only her nekogami friend hear her reiatsu. The lilac colour was matched with a beautiful and serene melody, soon slipping into a sort of lullabye in an effort to calm her friend, noting her fists in her lap. Mentally, the musical reiatsu was accompanied by Ren's voice.

'Calm down, Adele-chan...' her voice wasn't demanding or scared, it was calm and soft, like a mother hushing her crying child. The kimono clad woman smiled a soft smile, turning to Hikaru afterwards and giving him a scolding look. The look was accompanied by her still calm voice, but furthermore, a kick underneath the table to hit him in the knee. "Tia-san never called you mean, she simply said I'm nicer than you. Which is obviously true since you're calling a young soul a bighead." Daggers stared into him, piercing into him with all of the skill and danger that Tsubaki herself would have held.

"As for you, Tia-san," she turned to face the young soul, her smile returning. "I forgive you. I don't mind it considering you went off on first impression compared to Hikaru-kun and Reshin-san. And they don't give the greatest impressions at all, first or last." The light joke towards her male friends was followed by a chuckle, leaving the female to finally relax and drink her tea as it was served.

“Becoming a shinigami in order to break a law of Soul Society is probably not your best plan, Tia-imouto,” the eldest Pierce chimed in. After all, there was already a long enough line waiting to melt Hikaru’s face off. “Let’s try to be civil in front of our guest, okay?” Ren was already at least aware of the young girl’s... bombastic personality and she didn’t consider Hikaru worthy of courtesy, so clearly the implication was to be polite in front of the as-yet unnamed Kago. Besides, hotheadedness was a quality that she was trying very hard to not incorporate into the public perception of House Pierce.

Tia nodded slightly, though she didn't specify whether it was in response to her eldest sister or Ren. The pale girl picked at her bagel, refusing to look at anyone else. It didn't really matter now. She was done embarrassing Adele with her hot headed behavior. She'd already ruined her beloved Onee-chan's good mood.

Adele sighed, looking sadly at her empty teacup. Thank you, Ren-chan. She offered no outwardly visible sign at being aware of her surroundings, though her hands did relax a bit. Standing, she offered Adelaide and Kago a bow. "If you don't mind, I don't want to delay my student's training any further. Miyazaki, when you're finished, I'll be outside. Imouto-chan, Ren-chan, please don't feel rushed to finish your breakfasts." Without further explanation, the nekogami was gone, turning invisible on the spot and hiding her reiatsu.

When she let down the illusion invisibility her Koutaizumai ribbon afforded her, the feline Mystic sat on the roof of Amber Tea House hugging her knees to her chest. Now was not the time to remember Kenshi's apparent betrayal. The image of the man when she'd first seen him persisted in her mind.

Tia stiffened at her sister's departure. "I forgot something at home. Gomene, I have to go," the ravenette got up and rushed towards the doors quickly.

[218/2982]

The hotheaded shinigami winced slightly at Ren's kick, and settled for growling under his breath at Tia, "I didn't drug her anyway, she drugged herself," the boy pouted, "the catnip was for midnight, besides how was I supposed to know it would affect a neko." The boy watched his master leave and felt a pang of guilt, Hikaru didn't know exactly who this Kenshi guy was, but he could tell by Adele's reaction to his name being mentioned, that he didn't want to be associated with him.

"Wait up," he called scooting out from his chair and dashing to the doorway after Tia, and Adele. Then remembering himself, he ran back to the table to pick up his blade, and bowed deeply to his captain, and friend, "Sorry to leave you two so abruptly, please forgive my rudeness captain-san, and don't court Marshall me later." Then the spiky-haired boy ran back to the door, paused in the archway, turned, and blew a loud raspberry at the tenth captain, before running back out the door after his teacher.

Eventually he caught up with Tia, and asked her simply, "Did you see where your sister went small-fry?"

"Go away," Tia walked faster to get away from Hikaru. Honestly, did that jerk really expect her to tell him where to find her Onee-chan after he'd drugged her, molested her, and disrespected their Onee-sama? To top it off, Hikaru had acted like a complete idiot and called her a rude name.

The pale girl was pretty sure Adele was on the roof, but she wasn't telling this dimwitted, crazy, self righteous jerk off that. The civilian girl was so caught up in her bad mood that she didn't notice her brother approaching. "Oof!" The tall boy stumbled a bit. He wore simple blue jeans and a white hoodie with blue stripes down the sleeves and matching cuffs. "Hey Ti-chan! Why so clumsy today?" He peered around the short girl at the swordmage with curious green eyes. "Who's your friend?"

Tia shoved her brother. "Leave me alone, Nii-san!" The ravenette stalked off, turning a bit red in the face.

Zechariah scratched at his short afro before catching his sister's arm and pulling her to himself. "Ne, ne, imou-chan, why are you so upset?"

"None of your business!"

The afrosoul sighed. It was unlikely the girl would tell him anything with this other guy around. Noticing the way the short girl was glaring at the shinigami, Zech asked, "Oi, what'd you do to my sister?" His voice was stern, unlike how it had been when the green eyed boy was addressing Tia.

[241/3223]

"I didn't do anything, she started it, in fact I was trying to be nice for once," The spiky headed mage replied, accosted by the hooded soul, Humph, maybe Afros are the new thing around here. I do like that hoodie though, wonder where he bought it. "and on top of that, wait a minute. Do I know you?"

The mage ceased his oncoming rant and peered closely at the younger boy, taking in his green eyes, dark hair, and posture. The spiky-headed teen also noticed something very interesting about this young soul. The teen seemed to have latent spirit energy glowing pale and greenish, small as it was it was still there. He might make a good shinigami some day, Hikaru thought in awe.

Maybe smarter than you, and less of a hothead, the regal spirit thought back in curious agreement.

"Ya'know what your supposed to be my spirit, so why are you so rude," the boy grumbled aloud to his sword.

Oh really, I wonder where I get it from, the woman sarcastically retorted.

The tea drinking woman watched her friend walk out, her reiatsu pulsing just once as her Koutaizumai activated to hide the neko from existence. The frown shown on Ren's features was accompanied by a look towards her captain, as if she was wondering if the Briton knew what would upset her sister. Finally, she asked the question, placing her cup of tea down delicately. "Do you know why she'd be upset?"

A single thought followed it, though not towards Adelaide as the aloud question was. 'Adele-chan, is everything okay?'

“I don’t, actually. There’s a name there unfamiliar to me,” which she should’ve expected. Just because the Amas were Pierces now, it didn’t mean they were actually family. They didn’t trust the Mystic Captain, and it only hurt the barest amount to realize those suspicions were justified. Just one more nail in the coffin of Adelaide’s self-respect. One of many.

Seriho brought over Ren’s ordered breakfast, wrapped up as a ‘to-go’ order, and nodded to Adelaide. In response, the Captain offered each person still there a hand, “She’s running. Wherever she’s headed, we can get there much faster. Wanna go for a ride, Kagy?” That nickname wasn’t going to work. “It’s a chance to observe your serendipitously stupid new subordinate in action?”

"Nothing, your 'sister' started it," Hikaru retorted irritably, "By the way, did you see a girl come through here?"

At the boy's inherent confusion, he explained it slowly, "She had purple cat ears, looked really, really, really sleepy, and was wearing a shihakshou," the boy asked motioning with his hands, "She's hard to miss, her eyes change colors too."

To passerby the duo looked foolish, an Afro'd boy clad in a white hoodie, and a spiky-haired shinigami, with a temper to match, clothed in baggy jeans and a t-shirt. However, these clothes were probably not the best thing for him to be wearing to train in; the mage spread his feet in a wide stance to better get across his point. Then he frowned and pointed at the teen soul, as if trying to remember something.

"Wait a minute. Do I know you?" the teen asked, pausing to figure out where he had seen the younger soul from, "I feel like I've seen you, but then I don't. Maybe I'm just having one of those days," Hikaru mused placing a finger on his bare chin, and shifting his weight in the dusty brown, well dirt, of Rukon. "What's your name anyway?"

The woman bowed her head slightly in appreciation to the waitress, simply taking her breakfast in hand and then taking Adelaide's. The next thing the group was going to do was what Adele initially called the group for. To, in all honesty, watch Hikaru get his butt 'trained,' or as Adelaide knew, get his ass beat.

"They're going out of the Seireitei. A place where Adele-chan can release her zanpakutou. Whatever her and Hikaru-kun are going to do, I feel bad for him. I don't think he'll be ready for whatever her shikai does." Ren smiled, bowing her head to the nobleman. "I'll talk to you two if you both join us in watching. In the meantime, I think I'll go with Adele-chan to keep her from killing Hikaru-kun before she gets there. Thank you for your company, Noble-san. It was a pleasure to meet you, though I wish the company of Hikaru-kun was better for your first impression of him." With those words, she bowed her head kindly to both nobles, turning on her heel and walking out of the door to meet up with Adele and Hikaru once again.

Adele sighed. According to Tia's squawking, her student was still bothering her. If Ren's question were to be believed, she was starting to worry people. The nekogami stood. She was in no mood to talk about her feelings, Kenshi was a rather sore spot at the moment, but she didn't want people to worry either. The Mystic rarely mentioned her father figure anymore to anyone, even her siblings and preferred to ignore what had happened to her. If no one realized that she'd been drugged and kidnapped, then it was all the better. What good would revisiting old wounds do now? None. It was best to let dead dogs lie.

Brushing her clothes off, she leaped from the roof of the tea house and let herself become visible several feet ahead of her siblings and Hikaru. "Miyazaki!" Her voice was sharp and crisp, professional and devoid of any distress she felt. "Are you going to keep me waiting? I can introduce you to my siblings while we walk and if you continue to antagonize them, we will have a serious problem."

Zechariah had been in the middle of introducing himself when he heard his sister's voice. "I'm Tia's brother and-" the afrosoul looked over to see his sister moving at a rather swift pace and began to follow. "I think you should listen to our older sister. It's probably not a good idea to upset her further than you already have, Miyazaki. Ti-chan, if you'd come with me? There's something we forgot about."

The pale girl blinked. "What is it?" She followed her brother, having lost interest in Hikaru. She'd be mad at 'Hika-teme' later. Zechariah didn't say anything, but subtly mouthed 'Tabitha'. Tia's eyes widened. "Ohhh, we really do have to go!" The short civilian took her brother's hand and hurried away. How could they have forgotten to tell the gypsy that they weren't planning on keeping the little house they'd lived in before Adelaide had come along?
