Chef Bryardee
King of Condiments
Two teams separated evenly apart within a fifty-kilometer scouting area. Each group was far outside of the range of any natural spiritual perception techniques. Whether or not the scouting abilities of lieutenant Maruyama or the aforementioned officer, Lilli, would be able to fill in this gap was an unknown to Shingo at least and changed the parameters and feelings of the mission in his own mind. His eyes sharpened just a bit after the fact. Not even the similar scouting abilities of Tsurume---which was tucked quietly in the breast pocket of his kosode---could cover such a large expanse. There was very little doubt in the young officer’s mind that the ever-present chaos within Hueco Mundo would reach one of, if not both, of the scouting teams during their relatively simple mission.
If not for the brand new communication devices brought in by the research institute, this mission would warrant more worry and caution than what was shown on any of the faces in the room.
Another member from a different division had left the room in the midst of Shingo’s inward reflections, the sound of the door slamming shut the only thing bringing her absence to his attention, and all questions he himself had thought to ask were being presented and answered. Shingo was content to relax and let everything play out as it was at that point. However, the anticipation of the coming deployment and the status of the second-in-command of the Third, lieutenant Caishin, still poked at him a little bit.
