[Shini] Week 214 : For Great Times II

"Woah, I am totally late.” Mitsuhito said to himself while running along the streets leading to the First Division.

When he got word of another bidding on captains, he thought about the last time something like that had happened. Initially he did not plan on bidding for anyone, just because he saw no need to do so. But he went there because he thought about something one specific captain could help him with.

Moving onto the division ground, he saw many people standing around and loudly discussing with each other. He even knew some of them but did not bother to greet all of them right now.

With his eyes on the stage, he saw who was on auction now.
Phew, made it in time.

Mitsuhito went to one of the staff guys, asked for a numbered sign and wanted to know what the current bid was.

"It’s currently three hundred for that lovely captain up there.” the staff guy said, while handing out the sign. "You don’t plan to do anything naughty to her, or?”

"As if! If my girlfriend would get word of that, she would kill me on sight.”

He had other plans in mind. Plans his girlfriend was not allowed to know. He had chosen Lilith-taichou because she was the captain of Sekka and Sekka’s birthday was near. The problem was that he still had no idea of what to give her as a present. It was as easy as that, if he wins the ‘date’ with Lilith, he could go on a little shopping spree with a mature woman, a woman that Sekka took as an example, a role model she wanted to become too.

Raising the sign with the number forty-two into the air, he shouted loud and clear, "I bid five hundred.”

Let the game begin.

Yop Lil, I totally gonna drag you along on a mad shopping spree to get the perfect gift for one of your division mates, should I win the auction^^'.

Flicking his silvery locks with his painted nails, the effeminate man bestowed a frown upon the crowd bidding on not only his Captain, but friend.

Such cheap asses! My Lilith is worth more than a few measly hundred, he thought. "However, I don’t need to bid on her.

"Hmph,” he perkily chuckled, "I can go out with her whenever I wan-OW!

"Watch where the hell you'r- Captain Anenokoji!?” the man shrieked , spun around and vanished.

Senesati calmly turned around to apologize to someone who was no longer there. Odd, I could have sworn I stepped on someone’s foot or something.

Often times, Senesati has had a habit of walking in deep thought and ignoring his immediate surroundings.

The nobleman shrugged and proceeded on. He laid eyes on the newly appointed Captain of the Divine, and divine she was. Senesati did not even hear the price that was yelled before him, but he definitely wanted to be heard and most of all the victor of this beauty.

"One-thousand,” he announced with a raise of his golden arm.

What am I doing?

"Fifteen hundred.” Tetsuo announced loud enough for the auctioneer to hear.

When he had arrived wasn’t important at all. What mattered was that he was there, and that the Captain of the Tenth was the only person he had a genuine interest on. Perhaps his interest was of a nature quite different than those of most bidding for her, but it was as valid and justifiable as any other nonetheless.

The question was which person had the bigger interest... and the bigger stash.

Without even glancing at the competitor, Senesati raised his hand yet again and said, "Two-thousand."

He then smiled and offered a few words to the man who recently bidded on the female captain.

"Careful not spend all your funds on the bid alone, you should at least think about what you will treat her to as well."

He paused a moment before concluding, "I highly doubt last nights leftovers would be fitting meal for a first date.

"Wouldn't you agree?"

"I agree with you, pal. However, if my intentions were to simply chase a skirt for a date, I wouldn’t be here at all. I don’t intend to seduce the woman, but merely impose on her for a bit. And for that I wouldn’t mind spending all my money. A captain’s time is a valuable asset after all.”

He then lifted his hand and announced, "Twenty five hundred."

"If it is time with a captain you seek, perhaps you should make an appointment with my secretary and I will be happy to discuss this topic in detail with you for as long as you wish. With that said," he raised his hand and added, "Three-thousand."

He turned his head back to the other male shinigami and said, "You should not waste your funds to do something you can do at no cost, unless of course it is more than time you are looking for."

"Time is but an alias of my intentions, of course. You surely understand that, my good man.” With a smile, Tetsuo replied to the nobleman before referring to the auctioneer, "Thirty five hundred.”

"Sadly, I have no interest in you whatsoever. My only interest here is that woman, for she possesses something that neither you, nor I have. And I’m not talking about what you just thought, mind you.”

[ 69 / 222]

"Ah, but it’s not proper for a gentleman to reveal the secrets of another’s mind in public, is it? Tetsuo replied with an ever so slight hint of humor to his voice – which was, mind you, a very, very rare occurrence when referring to Tetsuo.

And another time he raised his hand and addressed the auctioneer, "Forty five hundred.”

[59 / 281]

"Heh," he quietly chuckled.

"I suppose you are correct."

Senesati took a longer glance at the man he had been talking to. What a mess, he thought as he glimpsed upon the man's messy brown locks. Surely you'd think he'd come dressed and pampered for the occasion of bidding on a female. It looks as if he woke up, passed by and suddenly decided to place a bid...

"Five-thousand, five-hundred," raised the dignified captain.

EH!? Adelaide shrieked in her mind. She managed to fit her sentence together, but the surprise at how quickly her Captain bid out of her price range was remarkable. "Lucas and I don’t get on very well, ‘sall.” She didn’t want to talk about Yuurei, Raury didn’t need that bother. Besides, she would have to admit things to herself and that, well, that was not acceptable. "I’ll be fine.”

She looked over to her Captain, who was bidding an insane amount. "Captain Anenokoji blew my strategy out of the water. I was going to get people bidding low and then suddenly throw all my kan in. You know, set up a situation where my measly three grand would be effective.”

And then, a totally unorthodox and possibly insane plan came to her mind. One so beautiful and reasonable it could only make sense to her with the level of intoxication she had at the moment. She, triumphantly, raised her placard into the air, and proclaimed proudly. "A thousand on Captain Anenokoji.”

What in the name of Sappho did I just try to do? came the all-too-late voice of better judgment. Which, of course, was shrugged off by the all-too-present voice of drunkenness and dedication to an ideal: this’ll probably work.

Oh, fuck.

This was drunk behavior beyond his anticipation. A few quick flashed burst in his mind.

I should just drag her away for her own good. He knew that would backfire like a motherfucker. Drunken belligerence was not to be underestimated.

Should have never given her that gourd. Too late on that one.

Torn between helping the woman and edging away slowly, he wondered if he could even do anything productive in this situation. He had been just about to offer his own wages to aid his fellow Brit in her auctioning. She was obviously hellbent on winning someone. Too late for that, too.

This is why he never supported rage drinking, the one situation he found it inappropriate.

Fuck it.

At a loss, he gave in to impulse-syndrome and decided to support the wonked situation. He shot his sign-bearing hand skyward.

"Fifteen hundred on the PrettyBoy-Taichou!” Under his breath, he addressed Addle. "No idea what the fuck yer doin’, hon, but I guess I can’t let ya stand alone. If this goes through with the auction committee and I actually win this bastard, he’s your problem, though. Wouldn’t even know what to do with him. And calm yer ass down, you're just makin' shit harder."
[709]

"What... in the world? he questioned, his jaw nearly dropping to the floor.

Can they really do this?

No, I'm not even going to bother asking her.

Flustered, confused and haunted by the last auction he was presented and tossed into, he realized that Picca would more than likely allow the random auctioning of his very being. Just the thought of someone following up on their win brought several raised viens near his left temple.

"Now that’s a good one!” And there was a laugh after Tetsuo’s words.

The situation had quickly derailed into something rather... interesting. Would his competitor prize more his own physical safety or acquiring the privilege of time with the Captain of the Tenth? Would he run, or would he turn the tables in some dignified way of his?

"Seems there are some people interested in your time, friend. How exciting, don’t you think?”

Tetsuo came to this auction simply for bidding, but now he was actually finding enjoyment in it. How strange things could be...

"Auctioneer, six thousand for the Captain of the Tenth!”

[104 / 385]

Adelaide looked at Raury as if her logic should be plainly evident. "It’s a Captain auction, right? Where you bid on Captains?” she offered this as if it was sufficient enough an explanation. But, as to her motivations for why she bid on him, well, she was a little less clear. "I think I’m supporting his brave choice to put himself out there for charity. He really is a great man, you know.”

Orin, who had managed to slip himself a safe distance away from his captor during her confrontation with the couple with whom she seemed to take serious objection, couldn’t not shake his head at his, well "friend” might’ve been too strong a word, on Adelaide’s remarkable bid. Remarkable in that it could be remarked on. And would be. At length. By lots of people.

Adelaide put her hand up again, "Two thousand for Anenokoji!” In for a pence, in for a pound as they say. She was the one who started this whole mess, in the most random and not-at-all malicious of intentions, and she was going to see it through. No matter what reason said about the whole ordeal: to hell with better judgment. Adelaide was determined to win her Captain, even if he wasn’t for sale.

Hearing the nobleman’s words, Tetsuo sighed slightly. So he prized spending time with the captain more important than his own physical integrity. It could be deemed remarkable, if not somewhat awkward, but the nobleman surely had his own reasons for doing so. Tetsuo could only hope that it wasn't for some flowery show of manliness, or a desperate necessity for company. That wouldn't be very classy now, would it?

He lifted his hand and announced sternly.

"Seventy-three hundred, and that’s my final bid, auctioneer.”

[ 84 / 469]

"Well, that's it for me then. Good luck to you, pal."

Tetsuo gave the nobleman a slight bow, and then proceeded to exit the place.

I wonder how should I go about this now... maybe Tsubaki? We'll see.

Final W.C - 508

The auctioneer looked back at Picca with a puzzled expression. He was uncertain what to do with the sudden announcement for a bid on Captain Senesati.

Picca on the other hand, had a smile from here to there. She pointed at the captain of enchanted blades and nodded. It was not part of the plan but it was great. And the last event had taken people by surprise that no one had a chance to vote for Senesati.

"Er, currently, Lady Maikeru is at seven thousand five hundred and Lord Anenokoji is at two thousand," the auctioneer stated, still bemused.
