Time Lady Katie
The Lily Girl
Strange Japanese pines, Kadomatsu, sat in pairs lining the path from the gates of Adelaide’s property to the mansion. The pine branches of the strange plant surround three shoots of bamboo of varying heights, little flower arrangements surrounding the pine boughs and bamboo shoots. Small ornamental baubles radiated a glow in the Western-inspired Kadomatsu. In the courtyard a massive evergreen stood, coated in tinsel, lights and snow.
Pierce’s estate had a series of mundane souls in beautiful gowns standing on the steps up to her door, seemingly not uncomfortable despite the newfallen snow. They sang, a beautiful rendition of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony filling the air as guests from noble estates and the Gotei Thirteen were welcomed into the mansion by two women, the Naitous. Shinobu, a woman with orange hair and a black blouse and skirt welcomed people with warmth and affection, mentioning how much ‘Pierce-sama’ was going to appreciate their attendance, and beside her the silver-haired Momoko directed people around the mansion – the entry hall, the ballroom, lthe Long Gallery all were points of interest.
Inside the mansion stood another evergreen, this one with men and women in elegant dress serving alcohol, small items of food, and various festive things and seasonal warmth. The stairs rose toward the back wall and arched around the room, leading to the most ostentatious part of the house. The ceilins of the entryway were high, but on either side of the entry were corridors called the Long Gallery, areas filled with life and attendees of the event Adelaide and the Women’s Association were hosting. Paintings, beautiful maps of Rukongai and the redhead’s home district of Mitakihara were among all the splendid and majestic wonders around. Above, lights hung from a golden ceiling that screamed both money and influence, and chairs lined the Long Gallery’s walls, between artworks on the inner wall and windows overlooking the snowy courtyard on the other.
It was time for a party.
