Kidou / Gintou Submission Thread

All right, here is my first Chiyudou submission. I have a list that I'm working on, but this is the only one that is really ready for review (and it's my favorite because the incantation is awesome).

Bound Healing - Chiyudou #40, 500 kidou + cost of chiyudou

Description: In situations that require a medic to multitask, it becomes increasing difficult to tend to multiple patients and/or wounds at the same time. During times such as these, a healer may choose to bind a single channeled healing spell to a targeted wound, allowing them to better economize their time, as during life and death situations, time is very limited.

A sheathe of white light appears around the targeted wound, symbolizing the healing process taking hold. The ability’s high cost stems from the straneous effort involved with channeling a healing spell without focusing on it, however, this spell will remain active for the same duration as the embedded spell unless canceled prematurely by the caster.

For every 2,500 kidou the user possesses, one additional spell may be bound, to a maximum of three.

Incantation: Bound by the noose of heaven. Cords of light, celestial belt; guide my hand and deliver your blessing. Chiyudou #40, Bound Healing.

Channeled Chiyudou already work like this actually, as long as the healer stays within a certain range. The same spell can't be channeled on two different patients, though.

Well the idea is to allow someone to heal without actually having to worry about it (so they can fight or something while the person is being healed or what have you), allowing them to even go out of the channeling range.

Again, current Chiyudou allow you to do that within the channeling range. If you want to introduce chiyudou with increased range, that's a different story. I'm just pointing out that you're creating a kidou to do something that all chiyudou already do.

For Will regarding the kidou's numbering
I am suggesting that we replace Bakudou #47, Lazarus. It doesn't seem to have any valid uses and rarely has anyone used the spell.

Senkai Kuki (Swirling Gust) - Bakudou #47, 1000 Kidou

Description: The user spins their whole body or twirls their sword above their head and charges the air around them with kidou energy. A localized tornado of magically-charged air cuts into any opponent foolish enough to enter its currents and can deflect weaker projectiles in a random direction from the user. The cuts are painful, but they can not inflict any wounds higher than moderate rank. This spell can only deflect reiatsu-based abilities that are equal or lesser than its cost.

Incantation: Winds of madness, lash out at the weak of heart! Bakudou #47, Senkai Kuki!

First of all, I use Lazarus. I also see it as having some good applications for stealthy types like the 12th, as well as potential interesting feints using trap abilities or silent casting abilities like the 8th's imbued spells.

Secondly, Senkai Kuki seems similar to Black Tide and Reaving Wind, except it wants to both attack and defend. If it's going to do both, it should be of a higher level to make it more effective than using one or the other.

In any case, there are still quite a few unused numbers. Why does everyone want to replace spells instead of filling the missing numbers?

I'M NOT DRUNK YOU SHADDAP.

Funsha (Jet Propulsion) - Hadou #52 - 1,025 Kidou

Upon reciting the incantation, the user's feet begin to glow white hot as if aflame. Once the caster has left the ground either by jumping or running off of an elevated surface jets of fire burst from their feet, propelling them akin to a jet-engined aircraft. This effect requires 500 Reiatsu per round to maintain. If this cost cannot be paid the effect immediately ceases, regardless of how high or fast the user may be moving.

Incantation: "Listen to the howling roar! Spread your wings and cleave the twilight! Let my intensity burn bright, Funsha."

Yes I am completely srrs.

even though the thing I want to use it for will probably already have passed, here it is anyway XD. Maybe in the future

Mascara Roto (Broken Mask (lit. Mask Break)) - Bakudou #80, 4000 Kidou

A bakudou used on bones or bone like structures. The most prominent target are hollow masks as the target must be exposed. Any such structure targeted by the bakudou will become brittle and easier to break. As such, any wounds inflicted on the bone structure are increased by one level. Minor to moderate, moderate to major, major to fatal, fatal to instant death. Any special effects directly tied to the target are also canceled. This lasts for 5 turns.

The user raises an open palm and then closes it towards the direction of the intended target. A thin mist that shimmers covers the target. It does not obstruct vision but only acts as a visual cue of the bakudou and what area it encompasses.

Incantation: The purity of white tells the tale of innocence. To be broken and shattered by the trials of life. As the cogs turn and the gears grind, light crumbles into darkness. Nothing to stand on, nothing to rely on, everything is as nothing. Bakudou #80, Mascara Roto.

Since I've never seen anyone use Bakudou # 19 I respectfully suggest it be replaced in favor of this...

Familiar Stranger - Bakudou # 19, 150 Kidou.

The user of this spell takes the form of someone at random from the targets mind. Perfectly mimicking their looks, voice and even smell. However the user of the spell doesn’t know who’s form they’ve taken unless it’s given away by their target. Even then they can still be found out by doing things that are suspicious or that the target knows the person wouldn’t do.

This spell affects all who see the user, allowing the user to be seen as whoever the chosen target sees. The spell lasts for five turns before wearing off, however if the user recasts the spell on any turn before it wears off they gain five more turns with it, starting after the turn they recast it, with the same guise.

Incantation: Clay, flesh of the father, cover me. Allow me to deceive the sinner’s eyes. Bakudou # 19, Familiar Stranger.

Bakudou 19, Sticky Draw has been used to great tactical effectiveness before. I'd actually lean toward replacing Bakudou 16, Encumber. It's functionally similar to Bakudou 17, Earthen Maw, has the same cost, and is less popular because apparently people prefer tentacles.

The timeframe on this is a little long for such a weak effect. It's not something that would be used to, say, interrogate or get information. Based on how it works, it seems best as a get-in, get-out kind of spell.

Approved as below:

Upon reading this spell, it actually seems more like it should be a Chiyudou. It would have a legitimate medical use -- resetting broken bones that healed badly -- and also seems relevant to a healer's skillset.

Approved as below:

Mascara Roto - Chiyudou #80, 3000 Kidou

A chiyudou used on bones or bone-like structures. The spell was initially created to assist with resetting broken bones or to minimize trauma to the patient when bones needed to be removed for surgery or even amputation. Since then, however, its practical applications in combat have been extensively explored.

The most prominent targets are hollow masks. Any such structure targeted by the chiyudou will become brittle and easier to break. As such, any wounds inflicted on the bone structure are increased by one level. Minor to moderate, moderate to major, major to fatal, fatal to instant death. Any special effects directly tied to the target are also canceled. For inanimate structures (shields made of bone, for instance), they take twice the normal damage to their durability. This effect lasts for 5 turns.

The user raises an open palm and then closes it towards the direction of the intended target. A thin mist that shimmers covers the target. It does not obstruct vision but only acts as a visual cue of the chiyudou and what area it encompasses.

Incantation: The purity of white tells the tale of innocence. To be broken and shattered by the trials of life. As the cogs turn and the gears grind, light crumbles into darkness. Nothing to stand on, nothing to rely on, everything is as nothing. Chiyudou #80, Mascara Roto.

The user is capable of traveling 20 meters per round, and there is no 'hover' or 'slow' option.

The ramifications of Schwartz Nacht have caused more then just a loss of life, with the incident the true masters of Gintou have been exterminated. The spells that remain are the most practical to Quincy at large and no living Quincy would be tested on their knowledge of the ability. Each spell has a certain amount of Gintou tubes which must be used to initiate it once activated simply breaking the tube is enough to release the harnessed effects and any incantations which a quincy uses remain solely to show off and are by no means required or advised.

Stuff
[Item Name]:Gintou Tubes

[Item Tier]: General Use

[Item Physical description]: Small silver tubes within which is contained a simple clear liquid, after activation the tube begins to glow the color of the user’s reiatsu. Simply breaking the tube will iniate the spell contained within.

[Item abilities]: Each tube requires 200 reiatsu to activate and each spell requires their own amount of tubes. The tubes ambient draw in Reishi from the surrounding environment after being broken resulting in each counting as double its reiatsu cost in value.

[Acquisition of item]: Quincy are known to carry at least 10 tubes on their person at any one time.

Spells:

Wolke | "Cloud”
Cost: 1 Tube
Description: The most basic and widely used Gintou after breaking, Wolke causes the immediate area, within a 5m diameter, to become filled with a thick fog of reishi which lasts for three turns.

Abwehr | Repel
Cost: 2 Tubes
Description: Those around an Abwehr spell will find themselves thrown back 5m opposite of the area of breaking.

Umspulen | Rewind
Cost: 3 Tubes
Description: Pouring the contents of the charged Gintou tubes onto the ground creating a mark location for the remainder of a collab. If within 50m the Quincy can elect to spend one round to warp to the marked location. If done no other actions may be used that turn and after a warp the mark ends. Up to two Umspulen marks may be present at a time.

Anziehen | Attract
Cost: 4 Tubes
Description: Locations marked by Anziehen give off a signal which attracts reishi particles to itself. This will find attacks veering towards the location for the next two rounds provided they cost less then the amount of Anziehen and they are already within 10m of the affected area.

Nachahmer | Immitator
Cost: 5 Tubes
Description: Truly a deceitful Gintou, Nachahmer requires the pouring of the gintou tubes onto a certain location. Once poured, the Quincy is able to form a construct in the appearance of the race of their choosing. The construct gives off a reiatsu level equivalent to the caster’s and is able to replicate any race techniques however they do not actually do any damage.

Stille | Silence
Cost: 10 Tubes
Description: Quincy have traditionally found themselves fighting against hollows, however since the Schwartz Nacht a method for dealing with shinigami has been formulated. By launching a great number of tubes at a general area, the Gintou erupts in a loud bang before creating a 10m wide vacuum. This area is so dense with spiritrons that any being trapped in the initial exp losion finds their throat completely filled by the particles. While they don’t obstruct breathing, they do prevent the vocal cords from moving for 3 turns. This prevents any sort of verbal incantation from working for that time.

Superior Mend - Chiyudou #91, 2,500 kidou

Description: The epitome of regenerative power attainable through the progression of Mend healing techniques, Superior Mend allows the user to restore lost and damaged tissue at an exponential rate. The user’s hands produce a mild white glow while the spell is active.

Small wounds are healed in one turn, medium wounds in two turns, and large wounds in three turns.

Incantation: Break apart and return, turn and overcome. Follow the cycle of the heavens, healed with the night and reborn with the new moon. Chiyudou number #91, Superior Mend.”

So... the 'acquisition' is... "They have them." You need to designate how they obtain them, and give a clearer idea of how many are or can be carried besides "no less than 10." That could be 10 or 100.

The idea behind the tubes, also, is that they should not cost reiatsu. They store the user's reiatsu when idle, similarly to how Tsunade stores her chakra in her forehead and lets it build up. The cost is in the tubes themselves, and the strength of their effects needs a more distinct measure.

Cost: 5 Tubes
Description: Pouring the contents of 4 charged Gintou tubes onto the ground creating a mark location for the remainder of a collab. If within 50m the Quincy can use the fifth tube to warp to the marked location. If done no other actions may be used that turn and after a warp the mark ends. ^ Resubmit. The concept may work but it needs to be simplified and clarified.

Nachahmer | Immitator

So since I have Shunko and feel there could be a little more variety, and maybe get a few others interested in this, I am submitting two spells.

Akuma no Yousai (Demon's Fortress) - Shunko # 70 2500 Kidou

Description: The user focuses their pressurized kidou energy into an alternate form from that of Kyuuzou Maou. This potential energy for destructive purposes is instead used to protect the user. While this form is just as volatile as its kin, it may be held for two rounds with an additional round every 5,000 kidou up to a max of 6 rounds. Akuma no Yousai must be released willfully, if nothing can be done before the power expires the volatile energy surges through the user causing massive internal damage. While it will not explode out like Kyuuzou Maou, it does cause massive pain to the user, whereas the level of the pain is equal to the remaining reiryoka of the spell. Additionally, if not properly released, the further drawbacks show an inability to use any spells for two rounds as due to destabilized reiatsu.

For each round Akuma no Yousai is active, 10% of the users Kidou stat is turned into a protective layer over their skin akin to a barrier. Each turn the barrier grows in strength by an additional 10% of the user’s Kidou.

One Skunko spell can be used each round that Akuma no yousai is active.

Akuma no Pāji (Demonic Purge)
- Shunko # 71 2000 Kidou

Description: While Akuma no Yousai is active, a Shunko practitioner can focus the raw energy of the protective barrier into a single, close-ranged, attack which must be delivered physically. The barrier is immediately drained of its current strength, as the attack makes contact with the opponent the energy from the barrier is transferred to the intended victim. While nothing happens immediately,, the energy will be stored within them for two rounds. During their infection by Akuma no Pāji, if the victim spends more reiatsu in a single turn than the strength of the energy planted inside of them, Akuma no Pāji immediately detonates to causing massive damage to their nervous system and stunning them for a round, while interrupting the action that caused the energy to explode.

This effect can only be placed on a single foe as Akuma no Yousai is ended as soon as the effect is put into place. Akuma no Yousai cannot be reactivated within two turns of using Akuma no Pāji.

Okay, so. I know you and I had a disagreement over the "damage equals" idea. You said that Kyouzou Maou uses the same sort of finite damage expressions. However, Halcyon Days doesn't deal in finite damage. Your Reiatsu is not your HP, attacks don't go "Well, Hiashi costs 120, so that's 120 damage", they go "You're on fire." Pointing to something that exists but reflects a nonexistent battle mechanic doesn't mean that that mechanic is real or that you should use it, it means that Kyouzou Maou might need rewarding to prevent exactly this kind of misunderstanding you're having. HD does not use finite damage. Try as you might to convince me that it does, I simply look at any given fight in the RP and know otherwise.

I grant you this is not the crux of the spell, but we discussed this, and you went ahead with it anyway.

Now for something I misunderstood when this was first proposed: let's say you've got a character with... 15,000 Kidou. This costs 2500 and, for our hypothetical user, generates a barrier of 1500. That's impressive on it's own, but after three turns the 2500 cost barrier is 4500 in strength. At the end of the effect, it's 7000. Nearly three times the power put into the spell. Now, when you explained what it did to me, you said the barrier was depleted and restored, somewhat mitigating this effect; however a strict reading of the ability does not reflect this at all. Beyond that, I'm fuzzy on what you mean by "transferred"? Does this mage armor-esque ability reduce the amount of kidou that can be used while its active? That's how I interpret it (like the tech Jin'ishi), but I'm unclear as to your intention.

Some quick fixes are in order here, nothing too extreme but ones without which I can't pass this along. Primarily, RESUBMITwith something to address the massive power gains; either a recurring cost, preferably something percentile in nature, or with the mechanic we discussed that depleted the barrier as well. Even some manner of bleedthrough would be a great help. As for your insistence on HD using finite damage, I suppose if it means that much to you, its a minor enough thing that I'll let it go, but since it isn't how combat works, don't expect there to be much practical difference between what you want it to say and what I told you it should do.

Akuma no Pāji (Demonic Purge) - Shunko # 71 2000 Kidou

This one addressed a lot of concerns I had when we talked, particularly making it clear that the energy you're talking about is the power removed from Yousai and not the power of the kidou itself. With the understanding that you cannot choose to pour 5 kidou of your barrier into someone; it must be the entire thing, this one is
PENDING APPROVAL and will go up following resubmission Akuma no Yousai.

Also, note that I'm glad someone's doing this. I hope a certain Togishi-caster takes the hint and follows suite.

Subbing a new Kindou :O

Kaichuu (One’s Pocket) - Kindou #104, 7500 kidou

Kaichuu’s best known purpose is to make certain areas immensely difficult to infiltrate. In principle the kindou operates as a barrier, however one immune to the effects of barrier decay, around a chosen location, more often than not a building or other structure. The energies then segment the location outside of normal space-time creating an empty void where it once was. To the kindouist, and any chosen persons, the location is still visible and able to be entered. To any outsiders the barrier shields all conventional methods of communication and sensing abilities to the area within. However should an outsider assume something is amiss and attack the location of the barrier it will ultimately shatter revealing the hidden area.

Incantation: The recluse seeks lost sanctuary, the forsaken seeks paradise, the nomad seeks his home. I seek a path where the uninvited may not follow. Let the chosen find shelter amid the growing storms. Kindou #104, Kaichuu.

I want to go on record as saying I adore the name of this kindou.

There were a couple little things that needed to be taken into consideration, so this is
APPROVED AS EDITED below, because I don't want you going out and making all of North America disappear, despite how thrilled my character would be about that, plus I factored in the existence of Kuukanten'i.

Be sure to remember, someone's going to notice if Toyko Tower disappears.

Kaichuu (One’s Pocket) - Kindou #104, 7500 kidou

Kaichuu’s best known purpose is to make certain areas immensely difficult to infiltrate. In principle the kindou operates as a barrier, however one immune to the effects of barrier decay, around a chosen location no larger than a single discrete unit, more often than not a building or other structure.
Since the target of Kaichuu is moved to an extradimensional space, it can be traveled to by means of Kuukanten'i.

Incantation: The recluse seeks lost sanctuary, the forsaken seeks paradise, the nomad seeks his home. I seek a path where the uninvited may not follow. Let the chosen find shelter amid the growing storms. Kindou #104, Kaichuu.

Kienzan (Circular Energy Razor) - Hadou #59, 2700 Kidou

Description: The user gathers Kidou energy just above their palm. The energy flattens and rotates constantly until a large, spinning disk is formed. The user throws the disk toward its target and, upon contact, can cut clear through nearly any object while retaining its momentum. The maximum range of the disk is 30 meters, but it wavers and becomes less accurate after traveling over 15 meters.

Incantation: Let the meek rise up, let the strong be felled, Gods, let the winds favor the righteous, man, let yourselves be humbled before the shining idols. Hadou #59, Kienzan.

Honestly, I'm low on commentary for once. Innovative? Maybe not, but something we don't otherwise do and pretty solid on design aspects.
APPROVED. Enjoy.

I'd like to suggest a nip-tuck on Hiashi:

Hiashi - Hadou #16, 120 Kidou

Description:
An auburn luminous Kidou circumference, of about 4 feet diameter, is drawn on the ground, underneath the target's feet and a fire eruption is shot upwards.

Incantation:
"Subjects of fire, dance! Hadou #16, Hiashi."

Extension:

After casting the first, complete spell, the user can cast up to three quick replicas of Hiashi without the need of the last part of the incantation, being one after another. Their power is halved, though.

Incantation: "Subjects of fire, dance!"
