Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone! I'm going to try to respond to everyone.
Ketchup is lame, btw.
A couple thoughts, just take it as my .02:
1. New locations for later rounds/semifinals.
(Add international locations like last tourney or the Scion hunts?)
2. New handicaps for later rounds/semifinals.
(Positive and negative)
3. Tag-team matches.
(Just sayin'.)
All in all though, loving it so far. =)
New locations are possible, but remember that this is canon, so we can't go busting up famous places full of people.
New handicaps are unlikely, though. The point system and rewards were balanced around the ones we currently have. Adding more would require a lot of additional math we don't want to do!
Tag-team matches aren't likely in the tournament proper, because brackets for tournaments this large are ridiculous! Rearranging it to accommodate 2 vs 2 would be an act of wizardry. However, challenge/exhibition matches have no such limits. You could fight Tsubaki vs Everyone or pull out two on two fights.
Um, allow as many handicaps as the user is willing? xD
Iunno, I get a feeling there's a ballsy person in the RP who might be daring enough. Lawl~
Just a thought though. But likin' it this way. xD
Similar to above, we balanced the points and rewards against a max of two handicaps + equalize or underdog. Plus there comes a point when you're just trying to throw the fight but gain lots of points.
I'd do it, Nell. Not ballsy, but Addie is self-destructive.

BUT that's probably a bad idea, since with the option to take on that many handicaps, you can easily just amass tons of points, lose your fight and still come out doing better in the standings.
I know you and I talked about the balance of some of the handicaps v. their point values being a bit off, but I don't know how much work would be involved in rebalancing them, especially because you'd have to make changes retroactive.
That's something we're going to review. Addle, in particular, is a much larger game-changer than we gave it credit, while Torment doesn't seem to be as inhibitive as expected. However, we have to review that early in because changes will have to be looked at retroactively and the deeper in we go the harder that becomes.
So far, I'm really enjoying this. I always love tournament arcs, and I was beginning to think I'd never see one again. Point system is cool, and the Equalize was brilliant.
Gotta say, Beaks idea of 2v2 sounds great, really. Team PvP can be really enjoyable, and a good way to come up with some nutso combos.
See response above.
I would personally love to see Tournament-only achievements, as there were last time. Just a minor suggestion. Also, I agree that tag team matches would be fun! I would love to see one with like two captains vs Zakki/Masato or something like that.
Aside from that, I think the tournament is running rather nicely! Keep up the good work!
I second the achievs bit. Also, do we have plans of making this annual? Maybe even bi-annual? I lerv foights.
I love the Achievements idea as well as the tag-team! Might I suggest that equalizing in tag-teams mean everyone equalizes to the person with the lowest reiatsu, to preserve the spirit of equalizing. Assuming, of course, tag-teams wind up being a thing.
For everyone calling for Achievements, suggest some we might use! If there are enough compelling suggestions, it may become a reality.
For group fights in exhibs/challenges, the Equalizer would be applied the way you describe.
Regarding having these annually: tournaments take a looong time to write out! Especially if we try to do 3GG instead of single elimination. Doing these annually just isn't feasible. However, in the past I have had a smaller 10th div tournament, and there's no reason why other divisions can't have their own in-house tournaments.
Couple more odds and ends thoughts.
1. Give folks the option to purchase either a Potion or an Ether before the next round in exchange for Tourney points.
2. Active arenas (Erupting volcano, base of mountain during avalanche, etc).
3. HERE COMES A CHALLENGER moments. Maybe not PC's necessarily but (and this is just supposition) a mark from a bounty crashing the party, etc.
4. Mud Wrestling.
Between each match, the user regens 50% of their total rei, which is why an Ether isn't offered. We can consider offering one, though, if there's enough demand.
Active arenas were considered but there comes a point where the arena becomes more frustrating than fun and when we already have handicaps in the mix, that can be a negative impact.
While I won't say it's impossible, it's unlikely that anyone will crash the tournament proper fights (as far as you know). For one, it's another of those things that can be more frustrating than fun, especially if you have one focusing on finishing off their opponent when the other tries to stop the 'challenger.' Another problem is that if the fighters do band together against it, then how do you decide a winner? It's one of those things that is great to read, but not as great to be part of when you're competing.
You can mud wrestle at your own discretion. Bring your own mud.
