Feat/Tech Submission Thread

Resubbin one of my unique slots (don't know which yet) to make somethin else.

[Subconscious Assault]
Type: Unique

So often, vizards gain susceptibility to mental assaults as a result of the hybrid nature. Their constant struggle against the beast within fractures their mind opening wide a route for possible attack. Hisao’s acceptance of his beast has limited entry for this method of attack and made it extremely dangerous to attempt this.

Any assault of Hisao’s subconscious in any way without permission immediately generates within the old man 10% rage in an effort to weaken, in part or in whole, the assault. Should the amount of rage be greater than the cost of the ability, any residual amount of energy is transferred back along the mental connection to the attacker in the form of primal fear.

why do i keep doing this

Type - Trained
Acquisition - Generator PMs

ZANGYAK - BRUTALITY

All sharp edges can make their victims bleed. Certain students of the sword have learned to leave deeper and more brutal wounds. The very nature of the Zangyak cutting technique will allow its practitioners to cut and stab in a way that no others can.

For 3% of the user’s reiatsu per round, masters of Zangyak will cause all wounds they cause to bleed far more profusely than normal. In addition to the increased pain and bloodloss, those that are struck will hemorrhage reiatsu equal to the cost paid into the technique for three rounds. By striking again the effect will not stack, but the duration will refresh.

REQUIREMENTS : 5,000 Zanjutsu

[Subconscious Assault] - Approved w/Changes
- Acting as a definite safety net, considering most mental manipulation skills are rather cheap, more often than not Hisao is guaranteed to be able to over power it, giving a potent psychological attack and defense in one. The rage cost has been bumped up a bit to compensate, in fact in most cases it'll amplify your counter. The uses have been limited to two, so you can't completely shut down entire mental manipulations by just generation a quick 10%. Though, your attacks will get more potent if you have more rage when you decide to counter.

However, continued generation of rage comes at a price. Hisao is limited to activating this feat once, gaining another use once his rage reaches 50%. The higher Hisao’s rage it upon activation, the stronger the fear he returns.

[Zangyak] - Approved with clarification
- Just as a note, the initial 3% does not enhance your initial strike. The damage is delayed with the hemmorage. The hemmorage is the 3% divided over the 3 rounds, not 3% per each round. That would be ridiculous with a 1:3 input to output ratio.

Decided I'd slowly try and update our Common Feats to have a bit more ground to stand on.

[ Shinkichi ] - “True Perception”
[ Common Feat ] All Races

Whether through intense training, a natural affinity for energy, or necessity of blindness, many have learned to use their capacity for spiritual detection as though it were one of their cognitive senses.

A character equipped with Shinkichi passively releases a pulse of reiatsu similar to echolocation. This creates a radius equal to 1m per 1km they possess in their Reiatsu Noukan range. Within this area, they are capable of parsing the physical and spiritual form of others, and the environment about them. This allows them to not only gain a picture of their surroundings and those within it, but a rough estimate of their reiatsu capacity.

This cannot be used to ascertain the reiatsu of one who has actively cloaked it, but may lend itself to seeing through cloaks of a physical nature.

Requirements: Reiatsu Noukan

-------------------------

[ Kishouten ] - “Skill Focus”
[ Common Feat ] All Races

When someone dedicates themselves to a single discipline, they receive a certain affinity for it - to such a degree that their skill supersedes even those who might normally be their equal. Those who take Kishouten receive a passive 5% bonus to any single stat of their choice. This feat may be taken more than once, but must be taken for a separate stat every time.

Though the bonus is only usable during combat, they also receive a further 5% bonus to their chosen stat that is owed to the instinct instilled by their training. This extra 5% is not applied directly to their stat for combat purposes, but is instead used to increase their inherent barrier breaking strength.

Requirements: 1000 points in equipped stat

-------------------------

[ Jumon Fudou ] - “Spell Diversity”
[ Common Feat ] Shinigami, Vizard

Sometimes, people tap into the arcane arts far more naturally than one might expect. Whether by understanding the very nature of kidou energy, or harnessing the systems inherent to it, a person may supercede some of the inherent boundaries of kidou spells.

A character equipped with this feat may select any five pre-existing spells from their spell list. These five spells then occupy one slot less than what they normally would.

Requirements: 250 Kidou

-------------------------

[ Senjin Bougyo ] - “Advancing Guard”
[ Common Feat ] All Races

Sometimes, the best offense is a good defense. Focusing less on landing a definitive blow on an opponent, and more on allowing them to wear themselves out against an unwavering defense. The user of this feat has learned to both stand and advance their ground without raising a single blow in contest.

Whenever the user of this feat successfully parries or blocks an attack, a minor backlash is given to the aggressor, knocking them back for 1m away.

Requirements: 2500 in any close-combat stat

REMOVED BECAUSE I'M A GOOD PERSON.

Finally using an old-ass feat slot from like. A billion ages bast.

Mage-Eater---Trained

After eating kidou after kidou, Raury decided he should find a method of counteracting the issue. Kidou and kidou defense being a glaring hole in his combat, he has thought hard about a method of dealing with the problem. Well, maybe not that hard. He took it a bit literally.

Using his own internal reiatsu as a sort of net, Ruary has managed to gain the ability to quite literally eat a spell cast at him.

Raury cannot eat AoE kidou, and can only eat projectile-style bindings. The effort is strenuous, and can only be accomplished every other round. Raury cannot eat pre-existing spells (If a bind is landed on him, he has to deal with it the old fashioned way). This skill costs 3% of his total reiatsu.

Animagus

[Animagus]

Certain individuals are able to tap into their own mind channeling reiatsu to cloak themselves in the skin of a creature they feel most akin to. Their form changes and they gain any abilities the creature they morph into possess. Any scars present on the spiritually awakened being prior to the switch will appear on the animal. During this time they are unable to use any reiatsu abilities aside from sensing spiritual energies, and for the most part, appear to be just an ordinary version of the chosen creature. There are two notable exceptions, though minute much more so than usual, the transformed being will still exhibit a small amount of reiatsu and the transformed still possesses the ability to speak.

Transformations require one full turn to complete either way, either turning from or to the animal. Only one animal may be selected, if a user wishes to change animal another training collab is required to switch.

Animagus Addon -
Each animal form is allowed one minor effect or ability that must be submitted to the feat staff. This does not take up another slot, require extra training or cost a spec point to submit. Having this is entirely optional.

Planning to learn Animagus in the near future so... this.

Animagus Ability - You're a Wizard, Hedwig

The owl, Satoru's chosen form, is a bird of great wisdom and cunning. They are versatile hunters, able to choose various methods of subduing their prey. Unlike his fellow Animagi, Satoru can cast equipped Kidou (albeit only 1 - 35) while in owl form.

Announcement:
Going with the other staff rulings, no more stat boosts as part of feats. They're generic, they are boring, and honestly not that useful. There are way more interesting ways to show an improvement in a skill than simply expressing it as a stat boost. If you have a stat boost feat, you can resub it without needing to buy one.

True Perception - Denied
Hmm, honestly, I feel like True Perception needs a full rework. That was the point of my own Evolutionist feat. It seems rather lackluster still. While it does give you a better version of echolocation with the ability to sense some rei capacity, I still don’t know if that warrants a use of a full feat slot.

Skill Focus - Denied
You know, stat buffs and what not. See announcement.

Spell Diversity - Approved w/Changes
As per the conversation in chat we had a while ago, spell diversity stays but is just going to be simplified.

A character equipped with this feat gains 9 additional kidou slots.

Requirements: 1000 Kidou

Advancing Guard - Denied
I feel like this doesn’t need a feat slot. Someone could just write applying force to their parry and push the opponent away. It’s one of those things that, yeah it could be a feat, but should it be if it can be easily written in a IG scenario without one.

Mage-eater - Denied
Hmm, this is teetering in the weird area between too strong on one side and too weak on the other. If you pay 3% to eat, you essentially can only eat kidou below that rei level. Though, the way you wrote it you can eat any non-AoE as long as you just pay that cost. It’s too strong that way, think about eating something like a high hadou. However, limited to only 3% and below makes it kind of bland for a feat. Try tacking on a new effect if you want to keep the 3%, otherwise bump that up. Also, please remove all mentions of Raury in the trained feat, keep it generic.

Animagus Addon - Denied
While I understand your want to cast kidou from an adorable animal, it’s just really strong that way. Animagus’ power comes from its stealth and surprise capability. While you limit it to lower level kidou, 1-35 are arguably the most useful kidou. Imagine an owl hurling daishous and big bangs. There’s a lot of abuse potential in combining Animagus with high offense capability.

Same healing feat. Adding on the ability to heal others.

Feat Name
Shoushinjisatsu (焼身自殺, Suicide by Fire)

Feat Type
Unique

Description
The contention between the malevolent blade spirit, Tatsunokuchi, and its wielder has barred the Third Seat from fully harnessing his Bankai. On numerous occasions, Manzou has been harmed more than helped by his spiritual companion and, after countless times of being scalded and robbed by the consumptive pitch-black flames of his blade spirit’s manifestation, he has learned to use this fire to his advantage. At his will, the ‘Herald may spawn these black flames along his every inch; on the outside looking in, he will appear as a pitch-black void with a flaming human silhouette. While these flames are harmless for others to touch and seem to have little to no effect on anything whatsoever, the purpose of this technique lies beneath the raging obsidian cloak.

By paying 5% Reiatsu per round, a steady healing process begins on all wounds incurred before and after the activation of Shoushinjisatsu; minor wounds are healed in 1 round, moderate wounds healed in 3 rounds, and severe wounds are healed in 5 rounds. Manzou can only use this technique for a maximum of 5 rounds. Through repeated usage of the technique, he has gained the ability to extend this healing effect to those alongside him; by paying 2% Reiatsu for each targeted individual, those whom he choses to aid are engulfed and healed by the flames of Shoushinjisatsu at a slower rate. Minor wounds are healed in 2 rounds, moderate wounds in 4 rounds, and severe wounds in 6.

Animagus Ability - Hunter's Gaze

The peregrine falcon, Satoru's chosen form, is one of the most dominant hunters in the food chain..The raptor's eyes are naturally trained to take in the most minute changes in details. It's gaze has been known to pierce the defenses of even the most stalwart of prey. By paying 5% of his reiatsu, Satoru can ascertain the finer workings of one active ability within his line of sight. This ability requires a three-turn cooldown before being used again.

Resubbing current Unique Feat.

[ Blessing of Guanyin ]

Throughout the decades Akio has professed many beliefs, affirmed many truths that both drove and tempered his resolve. These ideals were fleeting and magnificent; the burdens of a child who had yet to see the world in all of its harrowing splendor. Such a tremendous realization had a powerful impact on the young soldier’s psyche. Fear ultimately drove the boy to extreme tests of both his physical and mental fortitude, seeking powerful individuals from whom to procure great knowledge and skill in hopes of one day accruing enough power to never be faced with the one thing he was truly afraid of: loss. Faced with sorrow and tragedy, the mender fought to be the shield and sword by which to protect all of those he kept within his heart. The weight was too great to bear. He was crushed.

In his rebirth he was given a gift; a godsend by which he might reach into a suffering world and grant his protective embrace. By expending 5% of his current reserve, the mender may craft a single pair of golden hands - both a right and a left - by gathering the ambient spiritual particles in the air and granting them physical substance. Each unit appears to be crafted of liquid gold. The cost is divided evenly amongst the two, thus defining their resilience. If confronted with a physical or energy-based attack that outmatches their cost, they are duly erased.

They move with speed equal to his kidou statistic, with a spherical range of motion within five meters of his present location. In combat, their precision and striking power is a reflection of the lieutenant’s zanjutsu statistic equally divided between them; a metaphysical expression of his own combative prowess. The hands are created in sets of two, and only so many can be called forth in a single turn. They do not decay over time and can only be dismissed by Akio himself. Because they are an extension of Akio’s body and spirit, they hold an intimate link with the mender beyond just the pseudo-telepathic means by which they are controlled. They are direct pathways by which he may conduct his own energies. Any spell which has been prepared by the mender may be cast similarly through the hands, draining the cost from both his threshold and reserve. This detracts from his total spell casts as per usual.

So I realized I haz two feat slots sitting there and gathering dust. Aaaand look what's back.

Feat Name: Zoufuku Suru
Feat Type: Trained

Through the constant study and practice of Kidou, practitioners often find themselves learning how to modify their spells, and Zoufuku Suru is no different. By learning the intricacies of kidou, its practitioners are able to exceed the normal limitations for a kidou spell, increasing its efficiency, at least in part.

By spending 150% of the spell's original cost, the practitioners of Zoufuku Suru can amplify either the duration or range of a spell by twice its original limitation, but never both at the same time. In cases where the spell is bypassed and Zoufuku Suru is used, the duration or range is still affected, however, it will still be at a lower efficacy.

Zoufuku Suru - Denied

- For 150% of the cost, doubling the range or duration of certain kidou seems really powerful. Imagine doubling the duration of something like gravity ring or increasing the range on a meteor rain. That’s a huge amplification for a negligible cost.

Putting this here since parameters or whatever.

And since this feat was influenced by ARD I'm putting it up for resub.

Original:
Feat Name: Lightbringer
Feat Type: Unique
Feat Description: (I'll probably do a more wordy version later.)
The Gist: Activating Lightbringer grants Tsubaki a longsword of living flame, powered by her own spiritual force. Strikes with Lightbringer hit with the power equivalent of whatever Tsubaki's pressure would be at after paying the cost of activating Lightbringer. The technique itself does not cost Reiatsu to activate, but instead lowers Tsubaki's Reiatsu pools in Sealed/Shi Kai and Ban Kai forms by 15%. This deduction in Reiatsu remains active until the technique is canceled.

For every 10,000 Reiatsu worth of pressure generated by Tsubaki, the force of her physical strikes increases by 1000 lbs. This increase in strength is calculated only after the initial cost of the technique is paid, and lowers in kind as the Captain uses Reiatsu. Spiritual beings can weather the sheer force, preventing them from being immediately shattered by the blow and instead the effect greatly amplifies the knock-back force. Non-spiritual and mundane objects can be easily destroyed by the ability.

Resub: (Will make it word pretty later or whatev)

Feat Name: Tsuki No Hanabira (Lunar Petal)
Feat Type: Unique
Feat Description: By paying 1% Reiatsu per round, Tsubaki is able to follow any movement that normally would be imperceptible in a 30 meter radius. This includes such things as Shunpo, Weapon or unarmed strikes that normally would move too quickly to be seen, teleportation, and the like. While active, this feat turns the whole of her eyes black, save for a tiny dot of white at the center of each of them.

For a once-per-instance cost of 5% of Tsubaki's Reiatsu, this feat allows her to see through one illusion or falsehood. (Rei cloak, shapechanging, sleight of hand, lying, etc). This cost only covers one illusion or lie, and must be repaid for each illusion or lie she wishes to see through. This secondary ability has a cap of three times per week.

After deactivation her eyes return to normal.

Tsuki No Hanabira - Denied

Hmm, there are a few reasons why this unique feat is a no-go.

- Invalidating shunpo perception will be always too far. If you look at the other feats that deal with tracking shunpo, take my own Evolutionist for example, it only reduces the requirement from 50% to 35%. That’s still a far cry from being able to track any shunpo.
- Following weapon strikes is weird. As far as I know, in this RP you can always see weapon swings and there’s no point, unless through feat/item/kai/tech, that you get invisible strikes. Sure some are fast but they aren’t invisible.
- Tracking teleportation makes no sense. It’s teleportation, there’s no physical movement involved in a teleport.

Next, part two of the feat seems to be a completely different thing that would warrent its own feat slot. I could see the ability to be a super lie-detector, while I question it’s usefulness for Tsubaki considering she isn’t an assassin or spy, and I can even see the ability to dispel illusions which cost less than the amount she paid in. Those could be worked into a perfectly fine feat/feats. Just combined as a whole, it’s too much.

I suggest reworking the second paragraph into its own feat and placing many more restrictions on the first half to sub as a separate ability.

Coolie, well since I forgot that I have 3 Unique slots consider it a resub for the empty unique slot, not one to replace Lightbringer.

Feat Name: Tsuki No Hanabira (Lunar Petal)
Feat Type: Unique
Feat Description: For a cost of 1% of her Reiatsu per round Tsubaki's eyes fill with a black hue, save for a tiny dot of white at the center of each of them. While this effect is active, Tsubaki is granted the ability to see through illusions and falsehoods. The success of failure of this is determined by the amount of Reiatsu expended by Tsubaki per round versus the amount spent by the target. If the amount spent exceeds the falsehood, it is seen through without fail. If the amount expended is half (rounded down) of the amount used by the opponent, the falsehood is not seen through but Tsubaki is given a sense of reasonable doubt. Should the amount spent by Tsubaki be less than half used by the opponent the feat takes no effect that round.

In addition, Tsubaki may pay 10% of her Reiatsu to try and see through one lie or illusion made by an opponent in a more focused attempt. If the Reiatsu expended exceeds any cost paid by the opponent committing the lie or spell, the falsehood is seen through without fail. This secondary ability can only be used twice per collaboration or thread, and after the second attempt the technique is sealed for the remainder of the particular piece of writing.

Eugh, although I'm not entirely sure they're a hundred percent correct, or finished for that matter, I figure there's no real use in stalling this out any longer than it should've in the first place.

[- Third Division Techniques -]

[ - Shousou Anteika - “Wound Stabilization” - ]
By paying 1% of their reiatsu per turn active, the Vanguard can automatically stabilize minor wounds, nullifying the pain and preventing bleeding. Likewise, moderate wounds are automatically stabilized, bringing them to a level of damage of a minor wound.

Major wounds remain unaffected.

[- Shunpo Jukutatsu - “Flash Step Mastery” - ]
By attaining Shunpo Jukutatsu the Vanguard greatly increases their range of motion when activating a shunpo. Provided that the user has a solid footing on activation, they can freely decide which direction they activate their shunpo, including vertically as well as being able to freely turn while mid-shunpo.
The user must be able to shunpo at least once before attaining this technique.

[ - Fusenmei Koutai - “Blurring Shift” - ]
By paying 5% of their reiatsu on top of any hohou-based movement’s cost, a Blitzkrieger, while using these high speed movement techniques, can briefly slip from their current plane of existence, allowing them to travel through objects or barriers of which cost equal to or less than the amount the Vanguard has paid in.

[ - Adauchi no Tenkan Sutoraiku - “Diverting Strike of Retaliation” - ]
By paying 5% reiatsu, a practitioner of Adauchi can enhance their slipstream, making them capable of ‘tagging’ kidou and energy based attacks that are equal to or cost less than the amount the Vanguard has paid in and drag them along with them as they move.

The energy attack, or kidou, will follow the user’s slipstream and move to the end of the slipstream, exiting it at a speed relevant to the user’s hohou stat.

One energy-based attack or kidou can be tagged per turn per 5,000 hohou, with a cap of 4 at 15k hohou - Adauchi has a two turn cooldown.

///

Unique Captaincy feat replacing Spell Diversity if approved:

[ - Seikuu - “Mastery of the Air” - ]
[Unique - Captaincy Slot]

Being dead is far different than living, as anyone in Soul Society can attest to, and one can sometimes bypass the physical laws of movement that one is normally accustomed to. True understanding as to what one can and cannot get away with is gained through experience.

Whereas Chikaihou Shinou allows its practitioner to condense reiatsu around their body or under their feet in the living world, Seikuu enables Nana to apply this particular feet to Soul Society and Hueco Mundo as well.

This enables her to slow her falls, extend her jumps, or even to stand in the open air. Additionally, having pushed her body past the limits of the immortal realms, the Blitzkrieg Captain has learned how to use Shunpo mid-air as well.

Feat Name: TBD
Feat Type: Unique
Feat Description: Through continued experience with his zanpaktou, Dellius can now utilize his repelling powers to a point. By repelling air around him, he is capable of propelling himself at high speeds on ground or in the air with total control over his movements. The max distance he can move per cost is 10 meters normally and 20 when he's in shikai/bankai. He can use this ability three times per turn and it costs 500 reiatsu each time. Like with his shikai repelling powers, speed and control is based on hakuda.

Lunar Petal - Approved as follows

- Part one has way too many parameters around it. You’re kind essentially going for a lie detector, which is a weird thing to use reiatsu cost against. I’m fine with sort of this passive ability that lets Tsubkai sense if people are trying to lie to her, but not actively shut it down. The Second had it as a tech.

The second part can be simplified as well, and a range needs to be added for the illusion disable. I could see something like her pay 10% rei and disabling all illusion abilities around her, with the strongest ones being disabled first (subtracting that from the reiatsu Tsubaki paid in). Just... this seems really wordy. I’m thinking something like:

[ Tsuki No Hanabira (Lunar Petal) ]
Feat Type: Unique
For a cost of 1% of her Reiatsu per round Tsubaki's eyes fill with a black hue, save for a tiny dot of white at the center of each of them. While this effect is active, Tsubaki is hypersensitive to any attempts to trick her. This causes her to sense changes in those she interacts with to parse if they are attempting to fool her. While not allowing her to completely see through the lie, it does let her identify that she is attempting to be deceived.

In addition, Tsubaki may pay 10% of her Reiatsu to try and see through illusions made by an opponent in a more focused attempt. She releases her reiatsu into the 15 meter area around her. This dispels illusions in the area currently affecting her, eliminating the strongest ones first, up to the cost. She must wait two turns before activating this ability once again.

Wound Stabilization - Approved

Shunpo Jukutatsu - Approved

Fusenmei Koutai - Approved w/Changes

[ - Fusenmei Koutai - “Blurring Shift” - ]
By paying 5% of their reiatsu on top of any hohou-based movement’s cost, a Blitzkrieger, while using these high speed movement techniques, can briefly slip from their current plane of existence, allowing them to travel through mundane objects or barriers of which cost equal to or less than the amount the Vanguard has paid in. They cannot shift through energy attacks or abilities other than barriers. They cannot phase through living beings as well as special materials such as bloodstone.

Adauchi no Tenkan Satoraiku - Approved w/Changes

[ - Adauchi no Tenkan Sutoraiku - “Diverting Strike of Retaliation” - ]
By paying 5% reiatsu, a practitioner of Adauchi can enhance their slipstream, making them capable of ‘tagging’ kidou and energy based attacks that are equal to or cost less than the amount the Vanguard has paid in and drag them along with them as they move.

The energy attack, or kidou, will follow the user’s slipstream and move to the end of the slipstream, exiting it at the original speed of the attack.

The user can only tag a single spell or energy based attack per use. This ability has a two turn cooldown between uses.

Seikuu - Approved w/Changes

-Limiting it to one shunpo because with the number of uses you have it’ll reach the point where she just gets supersonic flight and 150m+ jumps.

Whereas Chikaihou Shinou allows its practitioner to condense reiatsu around their body or under their feet in the living world, Seikuu enables Nana to apply this particular feat to Soul Society and Hueco Mundo as well.

This enables her to slow her falls, extend her jumps, or even to stand in the open air. Additionally, having pushed her body past the limits of the immortal realms, the Blitzkrieg Captain has learned how to use Shunpo mid-air as well. This allows her to use shunpo once while in the air, which can be modified by any shunpo modifying techniques she possesses.

iUnholy TBD Feat - Dened

- Few things. First off, this is a weird version of a daishou + just having flight. Specify what you actual want this to do, because I can’t give you superflight with no range/speed limits, and a megadaishou.

- Secondly, this goes for everyone since I see this happen too often, start having the control stats actually make sense. If you want flight, make it work off of your HOHOU (MOVEMENT ABILITIES SHOULD BE BASED OFF YOUR RACES MOVEMENT STAT!). Likewise, offensive, tanking, abilities should work off of zanjutsu/hakuda/kidou/combat/chakudan.
