OK Group 3, had a crazy weekend, there may be a dead hooker in my bathtub and I'm pretty sure the Canadian Mafia knows me by my street name 'Heisencad'. Either way, I'll do my damnedest to get you some grades tonight. If nothing else, by the deadline. Link me, bitches!

Cheesey collab is cheesey :) It was good to see Mitsu and Todd FINALLY catch up again - a bit anticlimactic and unnatural at first but sometimes that's how life really goes. I would have imagined them being a little more excited to see each other at first but Todd and Mitsu have been through alot since seeing each other last. I deducted some points just because there were a number of very noticeable punctuation errors, where you are missing commas and hyphens. Like I've said before, you still want to have a native English speaker look at your stuff before posting because you would greatly benefit from putting in some more natural phrasing.

This had a great build up. My god, though, novella dialogues. Novella dialogues, everywhere. To your favor, though, you can break things up better than most, even with long-running thoughts and speech, giving it accent and keeping the reader (me) from losing interest. The content was great and really moved around and past the standard training collab. For all purposes, the training was a side-effect from this fiercely emotional hashing. As said before, the build up was great and the climax was, creatively, worth it, especially because it was the end.

My point-knocking comes from a similar place as Hiren's - there are parts to this that felt unnatural (which we've already discussed). Almost like it feels unnatural for me to grade you on a collab we've written together, but that's a different sidebar. Nana has shown a sort of vulnerability here - taking a chance on actually giving a damn about someone....for some reason. Whatever it may be, Igasho would be indebted. Whatever the reason is, I think others keeping up with Nana would like to know where she's coming from and will want to see one day. The less-than-natural responses popped up on occasion and left me unsure of what was really being conveyed or asked...it didn't help that I had visibly lacking direction with certain turns too. Anywho. You're fired. You can pick up your things on Monday.

I wish I could give you some legit commenting for this collab but I'm afraid I'm coming up short because...well, it was really simple. I can tell you that the insight to Adelaide's thoughts on her division and her taishuu are well written and a reflection of your talent as a writer. I think it's clear, though, Vince just wanted to collab and have a chit-chat and you are sweet for indulging. :)

The House that Pierce Built

D'aww. Poor Addie. I was going to ask what depression she had been fighting with but you answered my question a few lines later. I actually love this dichotomy - the grande illusion of success, empty with sad, loneliness. The waterfalls, the garden, simple thoughts of kidouing through the rooms for the sake of convenience - all these things were simple layers of distraction, really keeping Adelaide from having to stare at the nothingness that haunts her. I think, beautifully, this is almost the same description of post-partum depression...ironically.

PS. Legit offer. Igasho can make babies. ;)

Somebody To Lean On

The chemistry between Adele and Adelaide is as palpable as any two peoples' that cross between professional and personal. Opening up to her on a more personal level puts into play the thoughts that readers already know about and let them make changes, in game, that could have real results. Great writing, as usual pretty lady katie!

A Thing of Shreds and Patches

Well old friend, this is my first time grading you or reading any of your solo pieces. Gonna break this up into separate sections: narrative, formatting, and mechanics.

This piece didn't really hit me emotionally because I don't really know much about her character: the terrible power you referenced, her natural personality, and the implications of this Void. That being said, I got a decent sense of who Emily was at her core. This description of Emily was by no means all-inclusive, but it was adequate enough to convey the motivations behind her character and the apparent facade that she puts on.

As for formatting/style, I typically warn against big blocks of text. They look clunky and feel even clunkier when being read. Yours, however, seemed to flow enough to where the format did not subtract from my enjoyment of the collab. Won't take any points for that.

There were only one or two mechanics issues here. The only one that really sticks out is this one:

She thought she’d cared about Tombo but no one could really care about someone as cold, clinical and emotional as he was.

I can tell you meant unemotional instead of emotional, so just be wary of little things like that in the future. I'll only take a point off for that. Otherwise, this was a solid piece that you've got here. Keep up the good work!

Bawb
Again bob, I apologize for the lateness at which you're receiving this. I didn't know I was grading you until yesterday and my neighborhood lost power. Take 50 Div as compensation. Now onto the thread!

In terms of your writing mechanics, you seem to have a consistent issue with apostrophes (or rather a lack thereof). Examples include things like "
spirits hold" instead of " spirit's hold". Or " spells effects " instead of " spell's effects". Another minor thing that I would recommend changing is where you decide to break up sentences.

That time was gone, it was a new dawn in his story and it was time he realized it took and took hold of his new life, his new future.

That sentence would read a bit more smoothly as:
That time was gone. It was a new dawn in his story and it was time he realized it took and took hold of his new life, his new future.

With that being said, I think that your narrative is pretty decent. Nothing to complain about there. It's a personal preference of mine to at least see some inner dialogue because it's good for an audience to see a character's thought process, but I understand that everyone has their own style. The only point I'm taking off are for grammatical/syntax issues. Other than that, I hope you really get a chance to show off Lucas's true power in this Tourney! *still waiting for Shunko*

Tenth, looks like we're aiming for post-tournament for our big all-hands-on-deck collab.

Dys

So, have 100 Leadership Kan as a reward for leadership. We should also talk about your second division tech after the tournament.

Who's Behind the Mask
You complete a Division Objective before I was done assigning it in character. Damned impressive, girl. Also, speaking Cat amuses me greatly and I don't think I've mentioned that to you before. It's like the Doctor and his ability to speak baby. Getting to see Adele's leadership side was great, and I really enjoyed the awkwardness around knowing Ren's identity and not being able to parse it. Very realistic and believable and remarkably well-played.

I always wish our writing could just go on forever. One of these days, we need to do an epic 5-digit wordcount collab and I'll be sure to not be available to grade that week. Anyway, I like how this started with Adelaide trying to be a supportive leader and help Adele through a tough time and wound up being one of the cutest things I've written in a while, and that was mostly because of you. I remember how I used to rave about your ability to make the mundane interesting, and the shift of this collab from a leader supporting a subordinate to a rather meaningful level of intimacy was a fun ride.

Tabitha I
If Tabby wants to get drunk in tea shops, might I recommend the Amber Teahouse in the West Second? There's a certain associate of a certain Mystic there who likes to help out women of a particular stripe? =D That being said, I "Awwwwww"ed really early on in this chapter and didn't stop until it ended. Heartstrings pulled.
57/57

Tabitha II
Poor Tabby, pawn in an old man's treachery and betrayal and whatnot. This made a nice summation of 'recently in the life of Adele Ama', but it kind of left short of doing much more than that. I hope the payoff when the letter is read is worth the wait!

Hey, you can have 100 Division Bonus for learning a tech before I finished asking you to learn it~!

Who's Behind the Mask
"Your hair sprouted kitty ears."
I think you handle this collab marvelously, and I like how you and Dys play off one another. One thing I should check is how old Ren is because I'm not sure how big movies and comics migt've been in her life. Then again, Lucia Frey loves video games, so I suppose that's somewhat malleable. I also love how the absurd is just becoming the day-to-dy for Ren. The attitude of "Well, impossible things, must be a Tuesday" is kind of fun.
Ren is now a practitioner of Soshi.

Interlude [79/81]

Well this chapter had positives and negatives. The big negatives were some bad thesaurus speak ('pictorials' for pictures is a bit too far as was 'egress' for entrance) and general proofreading slips (not capitalizing after a quotation and 'hear' instead of 'here' being two of the more glaring errors). There was also a general sense that you didn't proof this well.

On the plus side you really had a good tension overall. The sense of expectation and anger/repressed emotion in the air was well conveyed. Julian and Artur clearly dislike each other a great deal and you made it come through well. The bit at the end with the disembodied voice was nice too. I just docked a few points for the errors but don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it.

Twm

Hunts, Bloody Hunts [107/107]

This was good work again Twm. Because I follow your plot closely everything parsed out really well. Ewan, as always, is a good character and he interacts well with everyone in your chapter. The continuing investigation is deepening and I get the sense of growing tension in your writing. I hope that at some point we can collab again!

Back in the Saddle Again [118/118]

This was pretty good even if I still think Zakki's email address is the best part of it. Nah I kid. You and Mits interacted well in this and Tod was very nicely characterized. I am pleased to see you two collabing and you also did a nice job of furthering Tod's plot. Sweet! :D

Griffu

The Six Million Kan Man [152/154]

The only bad stuff about this centers around some iffy proofreading and a few sentences fragments but I am not going to lecture you. I am going to tell you that mechRoland is flat out awesome! I love how you've woven together all the threads of the plot here. Chimera, Orpheus and what Roland has become. I am also a fan of A.I.D.A but I hear GLADOS in my head when I think of her. Maybe she'll be as funny as GLADOS. I sure hope so because Roland is indeed "still alive". I better not see any cake though. :|

Tourney threads everywhere. I'm bad at finding things. Missed stuff probably. No links other than Wayne. Help.

Consequences of Disrespect [50/50]

Just gonna squeeeeee for a moment about the font/color/formatting. I like formatting. Anyway, really good chapter Nella! Your writing style is really descriptive but not in a word vomit sort of way that can sometimes happen. I haven’t read much about Yuurei but I’m pretty amazed on how you have such distinct characters.

The scene setting was also fantastically done, the small details that you mentioned about the shrine really accumulated to a great image. Also benevolent panda. Best. Phrase. Ever.

Wayne + 50 Div

Taishuu [52/52]

Kyuketsu’s continued nonchalatness in taishuu’s is always a fun thing to read while everyone else is going full srsbnss. Considering captains are pretty much nothing more than important spectators in these practicals you managed to actually keep Kyuketsu’s presence known. Plus, the derisive but surprisingly well reasoned decision at the end was a nice tidbit to read.

Rei-jew vs ??? [90/90]

Lol. ??? trolls. Blame Hare not me. Anyway as for the fight, damn does Kyuketsu get bitter and nasty quickly. Really good fight and as will said, you kept pace of the fight in your favor the entire time. The dialogue between the two of you was a really fun read and it’s kind of refreshing to see someone get so derisive. Even then, it didn’t come off like whining and really played well to setting the tone of the fight. Congrats on the win.

Blood on Fire III [151/153]

Really intense collab, but it really does fit around something revolving around learning Kidou Zero. First off, it was really nice to read Kyuketsu’s weaknesses and insecurities. It adds a dimension of humanity that sometimes gets lost. As for the collab itself, the back and forth between Tsubaki and Kyuketsu was really natural and flowed in a manner that befits two super powered egos clashing. Interesting to think that Tsubaki of all people is playing mentality fixer-upper. Anyway, there were a few places that I felt like Kyuketsu was flickering around the schizophrenic area. At times he appeared to bounce between witty and calm to instantly almost a basket case. It wasn’t that big of an issue but at times it did get a bit jarring to read.

Cad:

Senka Shuffle [92/93]

Oh dear. Igasho as Nana’s protégé. Oh my.

Anyway, as for the collab at hand it was a good read. Clearly Nana really dictated the flow of the conversation but that’s completely to be expected in a situation like this. Interesting to see Igasho’s actual reason for aspiring for Captaincy, and the philosophy of killing for justice was nice to hear. It lends a bit more credence to killings if they are dealt with for a reason. Then again, it does beg the question of a slippery slope sort of situation occurring. There were points that I felt like some of his responses were... forced... I guess? The response to the questioning seemed to not be the most natural of responses which did seem to break the immersion a bit but that only occurred once or twice. GO DO YOUR MORAL SON.

Sorry grading is late. RL stuff really sapped my time and motivation, and I tried to get replacement graders, but that fell through.

I should have gone ahead and checked what there was to grade because the answer was "something I already read" and "an unmarked spectator turn"

Berri - 115/120

This was one of the most awkward ways Mitsu could have started this tournament. Despite the OOG frustrations, Mitsu handled himself rather well in the fight. There are some confusing moments, though, and the turns rarely seem to synch up. Fights will always read much better when you have more open communication with your partner; don't be afraid to talk with the other person to work out a turn that you can each play off.

Not much more to say here since Hiren's judgment kind of covers the rest. Good job and good luck!

+150 Div Bonus for being the only one to actually write.

Vuvuzelas. That is all.

I'm actually sort of annoyed that you did just the one post and never came back, but then I realize that more posts would have meant more vuvuzelas.

Hiren - 5/5

Well, it's another lonely spectator turn, but the fight itself ended prematurely so I can't fault you for not following it up.
