Bought a kai resub, so purease be gentle.
Whereas before Nana and her zanpakutou spirit were completely unrelated from one another save for their complementing ideals, the spirit inhabiting her very being is now a familiar one. Stemming from the dawn of time, the noblewoman’s zanpakutou spirit is the other half of her being.
It was due to an incredible event all those years ago that the first matriarch of Amaterasu was forced to split herself up in two parts, with Nana becoming the reborn half, and Amaterasu herself remaining as a spirit of the old.
After having overcome her traumas, the madness within herself, these two halves of one soul are once again inhabiting the same body and as such Amaterasu-ōmikami embodies Nana’s very principle.
While not immediately discernible in its initial release state, its true purpose comes to fruition in its final release state.
Her blade, in its active release state, is not unlike her recently obtained item “Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi”, bearing the same similarities in appearance, save for the kanji which do not appear on her zanpakutou.
Furthermore, Nana’s golden-brown earrings (which are in the form of two hoops), turn into a true gold and gain three rectangular plaques the size of a pink finger. Near the end of these plaques are small coin-like dots seemingly floating beneath them in mid-air.
As finishing touch, the noblewoman gains a magatama necklace - said to be the Yasakani no Magatama. The main, large magatama is a cyan-colour and is surrounded by two smaller, golden magatamas.
Her eyes also take on a soft, red-glowing hue.
By paying an additional 5% reiatsu, the user can speed up the regenerative process.
This ability costs 7% of Nana’s reiatsu and has a two turn cool down after the three turns of usage are over (one for initial blindness, two for the effect).
This attack costs 15% of the wielder’s reiatsu and burns brightly for three turns after which it dies down. A three turn cool down is needed for the attack to recharge.
Exemplary of her newfound status as “Goddess of Sun”, Amaterasu’s clothes change accordingly and turn from the standard shinigami shihakushou into a red and white kimono. Though still very much a kimono in every conceivable word possible, there are a few discernible differences between a standard kimono and the one Amaterasu wears.
Being more situated for combat, the kimono’s sleeves are separate from the main robe themselves, and while having the traditional appearance of being rather long, they are infinitely more easy to move in than when they were attached to the rest of the kimono.
The sleeves, as well as the kimono itself, are of white cloth with a thick, red stroke surrounding the place where the arms come through the sleeves. Near the top of the sleeves are two red ribbons attached to the cloth. The main cloth of the sleeves have a grand, fully red coloured circle in the middle – exemplifying her status as a ‘goddess’ of the Japanese lore, with the cloth looking like the Japanese flag.
The top part of the kimono also differs slightly from that of the traditional cloth in that it looks like the wielder is wearing a relatively small battle jacket over the main shirt. This jacket is also white with a red stroke along its outer rim, looking as if the strokes overlap the red stroke of the kimono’s collar.
Amaterasu also wears a red hakama over the traditional kimono cloth held together with a fully white obi – though the obi is adorned with light blue stripes.
Lastly a large, red scarf of at least twice her size in length and around the woman’s waist in width appears with eighth coin-like rings to either end of the scarf. Amaterasu wears this scarf behind her back and over her arms.
The magatama she had been wearing in her shikai carries over and the cyan-coloured main magatama starts to glow softly.
Behind the user a massive, golden ornament appears, vaguely resembling wings that hover just behind Amaterasu. In addition to this grotesque ornament, the wielder itself also gains a golden, heavenly crown of Japan. The golden wings act as an artificial sun.
In slight comparison to the shikai, Amaterasu’s blade in bankai changes once again. This time the blade absorbs Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi and creates a double-ended blade of sorts – the handle remains its original size.
In addition to this change in appearance to the blade, Amaterasu also gains the Yata no Kagami (八咫鏡) - “Eight Hand Mirror”, which is said to be Amaterasu’s sacred mirror. Yata no Kagami is about the size of Amaterasu’s upper-body has a dark-golden outer rim, a golden inner rim and ‘mirror’ circle in the middle and acts as a shield of sorts for the wielder.
Every time this happens one of the golden plaque-rings on the sword start to ring in a soothing tone. Because there are six of these, the most Atatamaru will store at one given point is 45% of Amaterasu’s reiatsu.
As an added effect, the wielder can opt to release one of the stored units, or multiple, to heal shallow wounds.
The golden aura is as high and wide as the wielder and is used to block attacks less than and up to its own strength.
Taiyoukichou is not susceptible to natural barrier decay, but dissipates after 3 rounds.
The amount of stored reiatsu determines the effectiveness of Taiyousaisei, but under extreme, dire situations – such as cardiac arrest, all limbs lost, etc – Taiyousaisei will forcibly infuse enough reiatsu into Yata no Kagami to mend, or resuscitate the user at the loss of bankai.
When released all the heat gathered ferociously explodes outward, burning everything it touches with a scorching hot sensation in a 30m diameter.
This attack also has a team-based variant in which the wielder remains inactive for the coming turns, letting Choushinsei gather the power gained from Atatamaru. In this state Atatamaru gathers power at twice its normal rate, at the cost of immobility for the following turns.
- What does this mean in laymen terms? Amaterasu can either decide to wait 6 turns and then use the supernova, or use it at the start of the battle and have her allies protect her. This way it only costs Amaterasu 3 turns to charge the attack to 45%.

Amaterasu-ōmikami (天照大神/天照大御神)
“The Great August Kami Who Shines in the Heaven”
Being the true personification of all that Nana of Amaterasu stands for, her release has, likewise, taken on these very same properties. No longer is the young noblewoman’s blade exemplary of her noble upbringing and hard work, but of her steadfast convictions, her past, present and future.“The Great August Kami Who Shines in the Heaven”
Whereas before Nana and her zanpakutou spirit were completely unrelated from one another save for their complementing ideals, the spirit inhabiting her very being is now a familiar one. Stemming from the dawn of time, the noblewoman’s zanpakutou spirit is the other half of her being.

While not immediately discernible in its initial release state, its true purpose comes to fruition in its final release state.
Shikai
始解
While in its initial release state, Amaterasu-ōmikami takes on the form of a silver broadsword that bevels inwards just about the two-pronged, golden cross guard. Just above the bevelled portion of the blade, there are three holes, each of which holds a golden ring with a small, rectangular plaque attached to it.始解
Her blade, in its active release state, is not unlike her recently obtained item “Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi”, bearing the same similarities in appearance, save for the kanji which do not appear on her zanpakutou.

Her eyes also take on a soft, red-glowing hue.
Abiru (あびる)
“To Bask in the Sun”
Abiru is a personal effect that harnesses the power of the sun and lets the user bask in it, healing them in the process. This ability is passive and drains 2% of the wielder’s reiatsu for every turn it takes to heal up a wound.“To Bask in the Sun”
By paying an additional 5% reiatsu, the user can speed up the regenerative process.
Niwakamekura (にわかめくら)
“Sudden Blindess”
Niwakamekura is an area of effect ability that harnesses the power of the sun and uses it to bring forth an intense light encompassing a 20m diameter, blinding everyone - excluding the wielder - within its vicinity completely for one turn. For every turn that follows the blinding becomes less and less so until after two turns after the initial turn where the eyesight of the affected returns to normal.“Sudden Blindess”
This ability costs 7% of Nana’s reiatsu and has a two turn cool down after the three turns of usage are over (one for initial blindness, two for the effect).
Chokusha (ちょくしゃ)
“Direct Rays of Sunlight”
Chokusha is an area of effect attack that harnesses the power of the sun to turn the battlefield into a scorching fury of blazingly hot fire. Encompassing a 20m diameter, this attack does not discern friend from foe – excluding the wielder – and burns any and all participants within its field of effect.“Direct Rays of Sunlight”
This attack costs 15% of the wielder’s reiatsu and burns brightly for three turns after which it dies down. A three turn cool down is needed for the attack to recharge.
Bankai
卍解
In its final release state, the form of Amaterasu becomes absolute and both the wielder of present times and the spirit of an age long forgotten become one and the same again, unleashing the full extent of their broken past.卍解

Yata no Kagami is about the size of Amaterasu’s upper-body has a dark-golden outer rim, a golden inner rim and ‘mirror’ circle in the middle and acts as a shield of sorts for the wielder.
Atatamaru (あたたまる)
“To Warm Oneself”
Atatamaru is a passive, personal effect ability that harnesses the warmth that radiates from Amaterasu’s bankai and uses it to fuel her powers. For every turn that passes and the bankai is active, Atatamaru drains 7.5% of Amaterasu’s reiatsu per turn and stores it in the mirror.“To Warm Oneself”
Taiyoukichou (たいよきちょう)
“Solar Screen”
Taiyoukichou is a personal effect attack and is only available when one or more of the six rings on her sword are activated. By spending this stored energy, Yata no Kagami begins to shine brightly and starts emitting a golden aura with a form not unlike the shield itself.“Solar Screen”
The golden aura is as high and wide as the wielder and is used to block attacks less than and up to its own strength.
Taiyoukichou is not susceptible to natural barrier decay, but dissipates after 3 rounds.
Taiyousaisei (たいよさいせい)
“Solar Rebirth”
Taiyousaisei is a personal effect attack only available under extreme conditions and when one or more of the six rings on her sword activated. True to its name, Taiyousaisei takes its power from the stored sun power and uses it to completely regenerate lost limbs, mend broken bones, and heal any type of wound.“Solar Rebirth”
Choushinsei (ちょうしんせい)
“Supernova”
Choushinsei is an area of effect attack that harnesses the power of at least one stored unit, and upon instigation begins to gather sun particles around Yata no Kagami and slowly, but surely starts to gather in strength and start to spiral around the user, gathering in ferocity as time passes.“Supernova”
