I don't know if making a new thread was the right thing to do but I have a couple questions I wanted to ask.

What is the penalty for murder in Terminus?

What are the [Be] [Oc] [Aq] tags I see in the writing sections?

Are the skills I pick for my character locked or is there a way I can change one of the skills later?

What does the fox say?

Fun answer time with Apeiron!

Murder in Terminus should be treated as it would in any modern society - which is to say it's frowned upon.

The tags you see are writing groups that players have been separated into for ease of grading at the end of each writing week. The groups are Castus, Bellator, Occultus, Aquilia, and Serpens.

As for skills... the points you've spent into skills are locked, though you're not restricted to only those skills. Your character can take on as many skills as you can purchase with your latens (the base cost for each skill is only 250), but those are points you don't get back.

Depends on the circumstance of the murder the wold is a little bit wild west ish and as such kills in self defense or the like are liable to be excused. Killing high ranking government officials or wealthy nobility is likely to result in death sentences to appease the wounded parties while more common folk murders would probs just get jail time depending on circumstances.

So if someone were to commit murder would they be executed or sent to prison?

Thank you for answering my questions!

The laws vary slightly, country to country. In most cases, the people of Araevis prefer to capture criminals alive and have them tried rather than setting bounty hunters to kill them. Depending on where the trial takes place, and the crime itself, execution may be more or less common.

I'd say Demvir are probably least likely to execute, especially another member of their race, but conversely, it's easier for other races to sentence a demvir to death because it's still difficult to see them as living beings rather than machines.

PT is still young, and the world of Araevis is quite large, still being fleshed out. What your character does and what you write can impact and shape that world. If you've an idea brewing, don't be deterred by the vague "most places are like this" answers. I'm always interested in seeing what new stories people have to tell, and how they intend to mold the world we all write in.

Thank you guys for clearing that up for me I appreciate it. I have an idea of what to do now with the future of my character.
I have another question.
Is it alright if I create a sort of digging tool mainly used by Demvir? I have my character starting out in a mine with mostly Demvir workers. I wanted them to use a cool digging device that would harm a biological race if they used it instead of the Demvir. Like metal spiked gloves designed for digging. A Demvir can use it, but if somebody made out of flesh tried to use it to mine rocks they would just receive bloody hands for their effort. I’m rambling, so I think I’ll just keep the digging part vague instead.

Definitely! Keep in mind, though, that demvir actually can feel pain, just not as keenly as other races. They also bleed (depleted caelitium volantis, a glowy blue liquid), but you have to cut deeper. So while the demvir are more resistant to injury, they're still somewhat fragile. Because of their durability, though, it's not only possible but likely that such tools exist.

In fact, demvir were previously treated almost as slaves, and their ability to perform more hard labor like that would have been one of the arguments that oppressors used to argue that they were 'built for it.' Take note that while some prejudice still exists, the laws in Araevis do protect against that kind of discrimination (to a point).
