Kidou / Gintou Submission Thread

The damage is added to the already existing cats (so 1600 damage). Additionally, the debuff is there IF a person hits the trails. I changed the debuff to something similar, yet probably more powerful.

Let me rephrase the text for better understanding:

Extension: Gorogoro Niji (Thundering rainbow), 800 Kidou

Description: The extension of this spell infuses the cats with even more Reiatsu, thus resulting in them to become more powerful and doing twice the damage. Each Cat leaves a rainbow trail behind when it jumps around. The maximum length of the trail is 1m and it vanishes on contact or when the cat itself vanishes. Should someone touch these trails, the electricity stored in it jumps over, causing the muscles to numb. For the next turn, this persons shunpo/sonido uses are reduced by two (Speaking, only a person that could do 3 or more Shunpos a turn would be able to use 1 or more Shunpos). Even though a person could be hit by the trail multiple times per turn, the effect does not stack in one turn. However, should he hit a trail in his next turn, the debuff is activated again. All other rules of Gorogoro still apply.

Incantation: Thunder forms lightning to shine in the night. Sparkle through your opponents with mighty electricity. Bakudou #48 part two, Gorogoro Niji

Denied. Again, I appreciate that you're trying to extend the joke, but the Nyan-Nyan song and the Nyancat aren't really the same thing. It's also taking a very amusing, but simple kidou and turning it into something complicated and confusing. I don't think this spell needs an extension, especially not if the extension is just for the sake of having an extension.

The Walking Dead - Chiyudou #73, 2,400 kidou

If a target is near a point where they would lose consciousness, this spell gives them a temporary boost in adrenaline. The rush allows the target to remain conscious for three turns past their usual endurance limit. The spell may remain dormant for up to five rounds, only activating once the user would otherwise be unconscious. Unless the target is healed sufficiently by the time the three turns are over, the target will immediately fall unconscious when the spell wears off.

The spellcaster traces the symbol for 忍 anywhere on the target’s body and speaks the incantation.

Incantation: The dead tree stands, the body floats, the spirits of bones lock themselves away. Endure and stand. Chiyudo #73

Approved
as above. Removed the combat limitation but limited it to up to 5 rounds dormant. It's a bit much if you just cast it at the start of any battle and automatically get an extra three rounds, combat or not.

mk, so I've never submitted kidou before.

Compelling Rest - Chiyudou #99, 10,000 kidou

A reiatsu induced coma, this chiyudou is used as a last resort when a patient needs to be unconscious for surgery or healing to be performed. Often used on uncooperative patients and patients who are too strong to be put under by general anesthetics, the effects last for three turns and slowly wear off thereafter. Because of the strength it takes for this chiyudou to be implemented, the healer who uses it will feel the adverse effects of such a sudden drop of reiatsu, and another healer will be needed to be present in order to perform the surgery.

To use this chiyudou, the wielder places their hands on the target’s temples and speaks the incantation.

Incantation: “Slow the stream, goddess of the moon. Pull us under into enveloping depths. The air is thick, the wind is slow, fall into my arms. Chiyudo #99!”

Approved with changes below:

Compelling Rest - Chiyudou #71, 2200 kidou

Description: Compelling Rest is used to put patients to sleep. Often used on uncooperative patients and patients who are too strong to be put under by general anesthetics, the effects last for five rounds and slowly wears off thereafter. To use this chiyudou, the wielder places their hands on the target’s temples and speaks the incantation. They must be able to channel the spell uninterrupted for three consecutive rounds in order to sedate the patient.

Incantation: Slow the stream, goddess of the moon. Pull us under into enveloping depths. The air is thick, the wind is slow, fall into my arms. Chiyudo #71!

The only reason for its high cost/rank was to avoid balance issues surrounding using the spell in combat, but it's not really combat spell nor worthy of the #99 spot. In the updated version, it takes 3 rounds to take effect, limiting its usefulness in combat (if you can hold someone still for three rounds, you could do worse things to them), but is at a much more reasonable rank and cost.

I also did not much like the use of the word "coma" since it implies something more permanent. Little details.

Note
I figured it was about time for some new Bakudou to fill up the higher slots; it's even a binding spell!

Sotsui no Tentai (Duality of the Heavenly Bodies) - Bakudou #91, 6500 Kidou

Description: The magician aims two palms at the target. The kanji for sun and the kanji for moon will glow on each hand. Two lights, one of purest white and the other of darkest black will shoot forth. If caught in this light, the target will be bound and visually cleaved in two halves of light and darkness. The effect is so powerful that none of the bound soul's form is visible; only the light of the two heavenly bodies. While under the influence of this bakudou, the target will be scorched by the white-hot light of the sun and frozen solid on the dark side of the moon. This binding has the added effect of rendering the target's vision useless due to the intensity of the light on one side and the complete darkness on the other half. Due to the intense temperatures involved with such a spell, the target will be burned alive on one half and ravaged by cold, ice, and frostbite on the other. This binding lasts for four rounds.

Incantation: Brightest day! Blackest night! Obscure the innocent in a cloak of darkness! Reveal every sin with a beacon of light! Under the guidance of the heavens, no evil shall escape thy sight and no truth shall go unnoticed. Glory of the sun! Enigma of the moon! Converge as one but act as two! Bakudou #91, Duality of the Heavenly Bodies.

Funsha reference
Funsha (Jet Propulsion) - Hadou #52, 1025 Kidou

Description: Upon reciting the incantation, the user's feet begin to glow white hot as if aflame. Once the caster has left the ground either by jumping or running off of an elevated surface, jets of fire burst from their feet, propelling them akin to a jet-engined aircraft. This effect requires 500 Reiatsu per round to maintain. If this cost cannot be paid the effect immediately ceases, regardless of how high or fast the user may be moving.

The user is capable of traveling 20 meters per round, and there is no 'hover' or 'slow' option.

Incantation: Listen to the howling roar! Spread your wings and cleave the twilight! Let my intensity burn bright! Hadou #42, Funsha!

Gorogoro
Gorogoro (Thundering Purring) - Bakudou #48, 800 Kidou

Description: Upon casting, a swarm of cat-shaped balls of lightning rain out of the sky around the targeted area. The cats thrum with power, making a distinct purring noise audible from several feet away. While not sapient, the lightning cats react to movement, immediately pouncing at anything that moves too much or too quickly, friend or foe. The cats will remain where they are for two rounds after being cast before dissipating -- staying still or moving very slowly may spare a person from attack. The kidou can be continued by paying the cost again. Each does 5% of the total damage, although most will usually swarm the same target.

Incantation: The skies break open and thunder pours down. Tremble and see the sparks lunge. Bakudou #48, Gorogoro.

I would also like to propose that these two spells switch schools and slots. Gorogoro, to me, feels like an offensive ability to contrast with the enhancing properties of Funsha. I think that each spell should be altered as follows.

Not sure why you have little bits of Green Lantern oath in that incantation. Although we do need more high-level bakudou, I don't think this one really fits. It's almost a 4-round Kurohitsugi. This spell blinds the target, binds the target, and does two different kinds of damage continuously, all for four rounds.

It does too much, and breaking down how strong each effect is will severely hamper the usage of the spell.
Denied.

In spite of how most people use Gorogoro, it's intended to be a deterrent/trap, which is 'bakudou' to me. It's like throwing a tripwire at someone.

Funsha is intended as a direct assault, which is hadou. Its applications for travel are pretty limited due to its cost and speed compared to shunpo.

Iron Wheel - Bakudou #91, 6500 Kidou

Description: Upon finishing the incantation, a 10-meter wagon wheel made of pure iron quickly rises from the ground until it stops, levitating approximately three meters from the ground. The moment it stops, four double-barbed wires burst forth from its sides, wrapping itself around the opponent's limbs while one rope of crimson energy bursts from the top, wrapping itself around the target's neck. As soon as the target is secured, the bindings start reverting to their point of origin, pulling the opponent's limbs with it, stretching the body to its limits with a possibility of dislocating several joints or tearing up the fibers composing the structure of the body such as the muscles, tissues, veins and the like.

Incantation: Wheel of torture, rise up from your grave and claim your sinner! Claim his body and make it become yours, pull him tighter and tighter into your painful embrace. Let his blood rain down on the earth as his flesh cling to your claws. Force him into submission, he is yours! Bakudou #91, Iron Wheel!

Extension: Rolling Wheel, 1000 kidou

Description: While the target's limbs are mercilessly pulled by the bindings, the wheel turns on its spot and stops upon turning a full 180°, leaving the target bound upside-down. Since the neck binding holds the neck on the spot, it will be difficult for the target to lift his head, causing the blood to rush down to the head. After a while, the target will feel light-headed and will inevitably find it harder to resist as the functions of the brain are hindered by the lack of oxygen for the rest of the time spent in the same position.

Incantation: You have rightfully claimed his body, and now his soul shall also become yours! Bakudou number 91 part two, Rolling Wheel!

Hmm... Resubmit.

Describe a little more clearly what the spell is doing when/if it catches the target. Does reverting to their point of origin mean it's going back underground?

Although you can submit an extension, I'm not quite sure what advantage this one serves other than to make the opponent dizzy. That's a very weak extension for a 90s level spell.

So, in my random foray into the kidou thread to do random stats on frequency of elemental kidou, I noticed that we have 2 kidou that really overlap and could just be combined into one. This'll hopefully free up some low level space for some LESS LIGHTNINGY HADOU.

Tsuzuri Raiden - Hadou #11, 80 Kidou

Description: Imbues an electrical charge to the caster's hands, and by extension, anything he is holding.

Incantation: Thunder and lightning are but putty in my hands. I can grasp the storms themselves and shock the world with all my might! Hadou #11, Tsuzuri Raiden!

Extension: Touza Raiden - 110 Kidou

Description: Immediately after the incantation is spoken a powerful electrical shock is released in the air around the user. The current only lasts for a few seconds, but if another person or metallic object comes into contact with the user, the current will stun the attacker or run through the metal object to the person holding it. The current is only powerful enough to provide a small shock throughout the body; this is used mostly to defend against any physical attacks.

Incantation: Don the armor of the thunder god and strike back, Hadou #15 Touza Raiden.

---------------------
Also: Suggesting removal of Lighting Rod. Reasoning is that Tsuzuri Raiden kind of does the same thing... The rei value is only moderately higher if you cast Tsuzuri Raiden + Extension.

Lightning Rod - Hadou #29, 275 Kidou

Description: When cast, a bolt of kidou energy forms and strikes unerringly to the caster's zanpakuto. Within the following round, the first person to come in contact with the blade, besides the user, will receive a powerful shock.

Incantation: Beware he who touches this blade for the might of the hammer shall fall upon you. Hadou #29, Lightning Rod.

Other kidou brought up by chat in my crusade:
- Water Walk - Requires a lot more setup than either Step of Shadows or Radiant Run? I mean it is possible to use, but it either requires a large body of water, something like rain, or the use of a strong water kidou to create sufficient latent water. Seems like just SoS or RR would be faster and cheaper.

Water Walk - Bakudou #66, 1350 Kidou

Description: After chanting this kidou, the user steps into a puddle that is bigger than they are, and comes out of a puddle in a different area. If the person is unfamiliar with the area, they are limited to what they can see, either by their own sight or by the use of kidou. If they know the area well, they can travel up to 100m.

Incantation: Portals of the neutral world, lend your use to me! Allow me to step through your lands freely! Bakudou #66, Water Walk!

- Mage Aura - Perhaps a bit too high level for its use? Only really seals hadou which cuts down its usefulness. Maybe lower the rank/cost, because just Dankuu-ing the oncoming hadou or using another cheaper barrier should fix the problem. Sure it would hurt low kidou/bakudou focused builds, but against most balanced users of kidou they'd have backup spells I would think.

Mage Aura - Bakudou #70, 1500 Kidou

Description: The user's Reiatsu field becomes visible and three white glowing stars appear above the caster's head. When the caster is struck by a Hadou, if the cost of that Hadou is less than the amount paid to cast this kidou, that Hadou is sealed for three rounds, after which it is released. Hadou of a greater cost are unaffected. This spell can only seal one spell of one opposing caster at a time.

Incantation: Fear not! The enemy's wrath will be their downfall! Bakudou #70, Mage Aura!

Tsuzuri Raiden and Touza Raiden have completely different uses. One is a channeled attack, while the other is a brief stun when grappled or pressed in close melee. An extension would imply that you do one and follow it with the other.

Also: Suggesting removal of Lighting Rod. Reasoning is that Tsuzuri Raiden kind of does the same thing... The rei value is only moderately higher if you cast Tsuzuri Raiden + Extension.

Tsuzuri is delivered by touch, Touza hits anything directly surrounding or grappling the user. Lightning Rod is specifically a bolt that strikes the user's zanpakuto -- for example, if an enemy steals the zanpakuto, or if it gets wrenched from the user's grip after stabbing an enemy. It's also useful if the user likes to throw their weapon at enemies.

I have no intention of removing a spell without a better replacement. Would there be any reason to just remove it?

You're not even submitting a change now. You're just saying that there's not always water around. That's true. Good observation. No changes will be made.

You're not even submitting a change, again. Are you telling me that I should submit a change?

What do you mean 'too high level for its use?' It costs 1500, which is effective against any hadou 1500 or lower, which includes most hadou 1-70, and a few above that. If I lower its rank/cost, then that lowers its effectiveness.

Why would someone use Dankuu (cost 5000) to stop an attack that costs 1500 or less? That's not even noting the fact that it has tactical applications due to the fact that it's sealing/delaying the attack, not just blocking it.

Alright Will... round two!

Sotsui no Tentai (Duality of the Heavenly Bodies)
- Bakudou #96, 8000 Kidou

Description: The magician aims two palms at the target. The kanji for the moon will emblazon itself on the user's left hand and and the kanji for the Sun will become evident on the right. 5 meters above the user's head, a black crescent moon will appear with an entirely white sun in between the two points of the moon. The newly formed heavenly bodies will shine their respective lights of white and black down on the battlefield, covering an area around the caster within a 20 meter radius. The sun and the moon then begin to exert a gravitational field that forces all but the user on their knees. Within the affected area, movement becomes nearly impossible. All high-speed movement techniques (such as Shunpo or Hirenkyaku) become unusable and all movement ceases unless the affected has twice the spell's cost in their speed stat. Even still, their movement speed is cut in half. If a projectile attack is used within the area of effect, it travels at half its normal speed but will still hold the same level of effectiveness if it hits. This spell lasts for two rounds.

Incantation: Obscure the innocent in a cloak of darkness! Reveal every sin with a beacon of light! Under the guidance of the heavens, no evil shall escape thy sight and no truth shall go unnoticed. Apollo and Artemis, turn aside your differences and unite in your judgment! Glory of the sun! Enigma of the moon! Be united as one but enact your will as two!

Bakudou #91, Duality of the Heavenly Bodies.

The Hero of Justice Has Returned!

Or not. But my first thing on this is; you totally copied my unique feat, brah. My second thing - the spell number in the incantation and the header don't match.
And actually, the fact that this is essentially what my feat does is kinda it's nail in the coffin. See, even as a unique feat, I wasn't able to prohibit all movement or make the effect persist more than one turn. And that's with something that could only be used by one person once per fight. This could massively change the face of combat to say nothing of open the door for huge abuses.
For instance, you can cast this, then walk around for two turns coup de gras-ing everything you see. And guess who can't do anything about it? Your fellow RPers! 'Cause you don't allow for any movement whatsoever. "Movement becomes nearly impossible". Oh, and here's one: Daishou? You create super-gravity that stops elementary motion, what about something like that? Would it rip someone apart?
Yeah, I see that you're making some serious effort, but the bad luck was coming up with the same idea I tried on my first day back on the job, 'cause I learned the hard way why the only answer I can give here is
DENIED, but I'm sure you'll keep at it.

I am not yet beaten!

The newly formed heavenly bodies will shine their respective lights of white and black down on the battlefield, covering an area around the caster within a 20 meter radius. The sun and the moon then begin to exert a gravitational field that increases gravity for all within the kidou's area of effect. Within the affected area, movement is greatly affected due to the increased gravitational pressure. All high-speed movement techniques (such as Shunpo or Hirenkyaku) become unusable and all movements have their effectiveness reduced by half the kidou's cost. Projectile attacks are also affected by this gravitational field in the same manner, having their speed reduced by half the kidou's cost. The main weakness of this technique is that the user must keep their palms extended outward in the same position used to cast the spell and they cannot move lest they become subject to their own spell, therefore it is best used to control large crowds and disrupt the flow of a battle.

Bish, reflecting our chat: RESUBMIT whenever you're ready either with some mechanical changes to keep the spell more in line with things of its kind that've been passed before or after hitting back to the drawing board again.

ok forget all the numbing stuff, back to the basics.

(original kidou)

Extension: Gorogoro Niji (Thundering rainbow), 800 Kidou

Description: The extension of this spell infuses the cats with even more Reiatsu, thus resulting in them to become more powerful and doing twice the damage. Each Cat temporarily leaves a transparent rainbow trail behind when it jumps around; this trail is merely used to confuse the enemy and makes it harder for him to see something.

Incantation: Thunder forms lightning to shine in the night. Sparkle through your opponents with mighty electricity. Bakudou #48 part two, Gorogoro Niji

I would like to know a bit more about the confusion and concealment effects here - are they actual features of the kidou or are they just "Well, it has a rainbow tail. That's pretty confusing." This is a really big improvement, but I'm not big on the idea that just juicing a spell up is an extension, particularly with the Augmentation tech readily available.

Consider:

An extension is meant to enhance something of the original spell. Some are extreme, like Kin and Bankin, but others change the properties of the spells. You have to consider what an extension does carefully, and recall that extensions can be cast in the same round.

Extensions are not meant to be on every spell....

Since the kidou summons an indeterminate (though presumably, mathematically, twenty) number of cats, your increase of 40 Rei to 80 Rei per cat is basically what you'd see if you just cast the spell again. It's really still not bringing much new to the table other than Nyancat and making the cats pack more of a punch doesn't seem like it really adds anything. So, the Nyankidou is still DENIED. Sorry, better luck next time.

Amagoi (Rain Prayer) - Bakudou #(??), ?? Kidou

Description: The user gathers a large amount of kidou energy into their hand, firing it up into the sky like a cannon ball. The atmosphere changes as the clouds darken, blocking the sun and swelling up with water. The energy released into the sky causes a twenty meter radius area to have a downpour of rain on it. The rain lowers viability slightly and causes everything to be over run with water, the airs moisture content greatly increased as well as the ambient temperature dropped low enough for one to see their own breath. The kidou lasts for three turns and gains an additional turn for every 500 kidou the user has, maxing out at ten turns.

Any water or iced based kidou gain an extra 5% damage to them and have their cost halved for the duration of this kidou. Furthermore, any fire based kidou has its cost increased by 50% and its damage weakened by 5%.

Incantation: East meets West, the King cries, douse the flame of the demon and hide its eyes. Bakudou #(??), Amagoi.

I would really like this to be a mid level kidou but, I saw they were all taken so I thought it best to leave placement up to you.

Couple things wrong here, so I'll take this one, Katie.

First, the little thing: if you're going to submit a spell, you have to submit a rank and cost. If you want it to be mid-level, then look at what mid-levels are there and see if there's one this should replace.

Second: since kidou function on flat costs, they have flat effects. Ningyou Tsukaiken is an unusual example which may actually get reworked. Buffing/debuffing and adjusting cost really won't work. Say the spell cost 1000 reiatsu, but you could cut the cost of Hyougan Seiran (8250) in half, every round for ten rounds. That's already a potential 4125% return on the reiatsu paid, and that's not counting the increase in strength or the fact that it applies to anyone within the range.

What we're left with, then, is a spell which causes a torrential downpour. There are uses for that. Hiren even complained about having a Water Walk spell without water around. It could be used as a way to snuff out or weaken flames -- but it'd be a cost versus cost scenario. Meaning if you spend 1000 rei, it could cancel out flames up to that strong, but stronger flames would overwhelm it. Interaction between elements is played in a more common-sense manner, however, rather than Pokemon-style weaknesses.

Denied. Rework before you resubmit.

Round 2!!

Amagoi (Rain Prayer) - Bakudou #(56), 800 Kidou

Description: The user gathers a large amount of kidou energy into their hand, firing it up into the sky like a cannon ball. The atmosphere changes as the clouds darken, blocking the sun and swelling up with water. The energy released into the sky causes a twenty meter radius area to have a downpour of rain on it. The rain lowers viability and causes everything to be over run with water, much like flooding, the airs moisture content greatly increased as well as the ambient temperature dropped low enough for one to see their own breath. The kidou lasts for three turns and gains an additional turn for every 500 kidou the user has, maxing out at ten turns.

Any water or iced based kidou have their cost reduced by 400, if the cost is below 400 then there is no change to the cost. Furthermore, the damage of any iced or water based kidou is increa

Incantation: East meets West, the King cries, douse the flame of the demon and hide its eyes. Bakudou #56, Amagoi.

Idol of Talos - Bakudou #93 7200 Kidou

Description: An infamously gruesome binding, the Idol of Talos is largely reserved for causing horrific damage in addition to locking up a target’s movement. Upon incantation, a massive bronze statue of a spear wielding giant nearly 20ft tall manifests around the opponent locking them within a chamber inside of the chest cavity of the creation. Once fully summoned, the bronze begins to heat up to terrifyingly hot temperatures aiming to roast the captured target alive within the structure.

Incantation: Assaulter of barbarians, immortal soldier, guardian of all against uncivilized hordes, rise. Accept this heathen in the forge of your bosom that you may guard me once more. Bakudou #93, Idol of Talos.

I think I should probably encourage you to RESUBMIT, since you seem to have both contradicted yourself and left off in mid-sentence.

Current Bakudou 56
Material Freeze - Bakudou #56, 800 Kidou
Description
: Expanding their own reiatsu from the body, the user creates a spiritual bubble which effectively acts as a Pause Button, stopping the movement for any object or creature with very low reiatsu. The technique works on ordinary humans, animals, buildings, pavement, trees, items, and spiritual creatures with lower reiatsu than the spell cost. Unaffected people within the field can still move any object normally, but that object will not move on its own, so projectiles will freeze in mid-flight. The technique affects a radius of 10m from the caster and will last 3 rounds before disappearing.

Incantation: Time is relative, space is personal. Bend both to my will and create a world all my own! Bakudou #56, Material Freeze!

That's a pretty trippy spell, but the fundamentals are good. Note, of course, that the spell functions as a binding and can be overcome in standard ways. Iunno, I wish I could say more, maybe I'm just tired. Also, following standard binding rules, each round it loses one-forth it's power. With these understandings, the spell is APPROVED and you can go bronze people a la Warehouse 13.
