Zanpaktou

Diapasão (Tuning Fork)

Sealed - Like its wielder, Satoru’s zanpaktou is rather straightforward. It is an odd size, being around the size and proportion of a tanto with a royal purple wrapping over the well-polished silver of his hilt. The blade is an odd grey that matches his eyes. Both are notable for their strange and mesmerizing glint. The tsuba is engraved with patterns similar to that of a circuit board.

Release Phrase:
Emitir (Transmit)

Spirit: Diapasão takes the form of a large crimson bat. He is always seen soaring about with a pair of thick headphones around his neck identical to Satoru’s aside from their golden color. Due to the standard black and blue coloration of Satoru's inner world, he's not very difficult to spot. The spirit has a series of intricate lines inscribed among his back similar to those found in Satoru’s inner world. When speaking, he has a voice so low that it ripples through the very core of his surroundings.Diapasão is not a liar but he has a habit of answering questions in a very vague manner, much to the irritation of his owner.

World: Satoru’s inner world appears to be entirely computer generated. It is much like a crowded city in its design, what with the giant skyscrapers and closely-packed structures, every surface is black with lines of a light blue hue that provide the light of the world. The world has no sun; instead, it is lit entirely by the structures themselves. Because of this, the sky is always black.

Form: Diapasão begins as a simple but intricately designed staff around six feet long. When initially released, Satoru’s blade shatters into pixels and reforms into a six foot long staff with the glossy sheen of obsidian and intricate blue lines running across its form. Its most obvious visible feature is the single tuning fork on its end. While in shikai, the area thrums with an ambient humming sound like that of a powerful machine.

Ability: Em Sintonia (In Tune)

Due to Diapasão's unique manipulation of sound and frequency, it has the ability to receive and transmit certain frequencies including those associated with the gamma waves produced by the brain. By paying 1% of his reiatsu per turn, Satoru can transmit waves that match the brain waves of any creature he chooses in order to open a channel of communication with them. When used on a humanoid creature (Shini, AH, Vizard, Hollow, etc), Satoru can transmit messages and music to them without the need for speech. In animals, he can exert some control over their actions due their primitive mental structure. This ability's range is 20 meters. He can establish a connection with a maximum of two beings with another connection gained per 4000 reiatsu for a maximum of 8 connections.

Ability: Ouça-me! (Listen to Me!)

The second allows him to convert his thoughts (and any music playing in his mind) into sound. This can happen in one of two ways, but never both at the same time. The sound is projected from in between the prongs of his tuning fork, essentially turning it into a giant megaphone with a maximum 30 meter radius. He can control the level of volume mentally, going from simply boosting his voice to shouting across the battlefield. In this format, it requires 100 reiatsu per turn. When he amps it up by paying 500 reiatsu per turn, Satoru’s thoughts instead become condensed into powerful vibrations stored within Diapasão. If an opponent is comes into contact with Diapasão in this state, whatever Satoru is thinking about at that moment will be conveyed to them as an incredibly loud shout directly into their minds. Once affected, the only sound they can hear is that of Satoru’s voice. Each instance lasts for two turns, which can stack for a maximum effect of four turns.

Attack: O Lançador de Baixo (The Bass Cannon)

For 15% of his reiatsu, Satoru releases a concussive cone of reiatsu around 15 meters in length and 2 meters wide that is composed of reishi, Satoru’s thoughts, and highly focused sound waves. Anyone or anything caught in this devastating sonic blast is thrown backwards and faces being shattered by the intense waves. Opponents become highly disoriented and find concentration difficult due to the distinct sound patterns utilized by O Lançador de Baixo. Any subsequent techniques utilized by the opponent will have their effectiveness reduced by the amount paid into this attack and any technique that costs less than it becomes completely negated. This is treated as a pool equal to the amount of rei used by O Lançador de Baixo from which abilities are drained and has no bearing on the rank of techniques like Kidou.

He can establish a connection with a maximum of two beings with another connection gained per 4000 reiatsu for a maximum of 8 connections.

Ability: Ritmo de Ressonância (Resonant Tempo)

When this ability is activated, Satoru’s body and weapon will begin to vibrate rapidly. If he so chooses, some of the force behind each successful strike against an opponent is converted into a sonic charge. A maximum of two charges can be built up, one held in each fork. These charges boost the strength of his attacks and push his opponents back one meter for every charge he possesses. When struck, the opponent will be shaken due to the intense vibrations in a manner similar to a tuning fork. These vibrations vary from minor trembling on the point of impact to an almost jackhammer like force when the ability fully charged. When resonating, Satoru can deflect any projectiles with strength equal to or less than 10% of his Hakuda. However, doing so will use up one charge. Activation and maintenance of this power costs 1% of his reiatsu per turn. Once the ability stops, the resonance dissipates and he must begin building charges anew.

Attack: O Lançador de Baixo (The Bass Cannon)

For 15% of his reiatsu, Satoru releases a concussive cone of sound waves around 15 meters in length and 2 meters wide from one of the tuning forks on his weapon. Anyone or anything caught in this devastating sonic wave is thrown backwards and faces being shattered by the intense waves. Opponents become highly disoriented and find concentration difficult due to the distinct sound patterns utilized by O Lançador de Baixo... not to mention the fact that their eardrums have just been blasted out.

Thing that I wish to change (Form of the zanpaktou)

Form: Diapasão begins as a simple but intricately designed staff around six feet long. When initially released, Satoru’s blade shatters into pixels and reforms into a six foot long staff with the glossy sheen of obsidian and intricate blue lines running across its form. Its most obvious visible feature is the single tuning fork on its end. While in shikai, the area thrums with an ambient humming sound like that of a powerful machine.

Why does it feel like this form is continually changing..?

Approved for the last time.

Okay, so... seeing as this is my Sanrei bow, it should definitely be more than just light/a little more complex in form so I'm changing that from plain ol' light bow to what it is below.

I want to extend the range for the telekinetic detonation of the arrows; makes no sense to be so close to an explosion so powerful so I'd like to change that from 15 meters to 30.

I'd like to remove and/or clarify (I guess) that the 7% cost for the Zwist is a minimum and not a set cost; I figured that if it packs that much of a punch, paying 1% (which would be like 70) for a half pound of dynamite wouldn't make sense.

Original Sanrei Bow said:
Sanrei Hamayumi

Release Name
Gedichte Grimm or Shiteki Gekido (詩的激怒, Poetic Fury)

Form
Rudo’s initial bow comes in the form of a simple bow made of light---albeit opaque light.

Ability
The arrows fired by Gedichte Grimm are highly volatile. A single arrow carries the explosive force of several pounds of dynamite, able to level even the most fortified of structures. This effect diminishes, however, when several arrows are fired simultaneously with the total cost being spread among all the arrows fired. The usage of any arrows, regardless of the amount fired, pulls an amount equal to 7% of his Reiatsu from his Shuuhaku pool. Additionally, Rudo can delay the detonation of each arrow after impact. Whether or not they miss their target, arrows that aren't destroyed after firing can remain intact and armed for up to 2 rounds and can be detonated at Rudo's will as long as he is within 15 meters of it.

Form
The form of Rudo's second Quincy bow comes in a rather unorthodox form; it is a bow minus the draw string, consisting of two metallic, unadorned limbs and a narrow riser with a simplistic scope attached to the upper limb. The crosshairs of the scope comes in the form of a pentacle.

Ability

Form change is approved. The rest is not.

The 7% is a set cost. If you shoot it beyond 15m, it will detonate on contact. If it's too close, you can delay the detonation and thus get out of range of the blast.

[22:12] voice_of_cthulhu: /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\ have you figured out what you want to wish for?
[22:12] Beaks: Yes. I wish for this to be my next Zan spirit

[22:13] voice_of_cthulhu: /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\ it shall be done post haste. You will find a gm review in the works shortly.
[22:13] Vince: ...

In light of this, I have to submit a GM review for Tsubaki's sword spirit thing.

Old Release Spirit

Spirit: TBD Upon Approval

New Release Spirit

Fuyu No Haaku takes the form of an incredibly large shirtless man. On his hands lie large knuckle dusters cobbled together from random bits of metal and giant screws. The sword keeps his mullet covered by a large red bandana, which would match his similarly red eyes if it were not for his impenetrable black sunglasses. To complete this ensemble, Fuyu No Haaku sports an incredibly manly mustache, sprouting almost over his mouth.

The swordspirit completely reveres the ideal of "badass," which, to him, means explosions, fire, and generally loud noises. His voice, therefore, is an excited boom, and he is always berating Tsubaki about her inability to "blow shit up properly." In general, though, he is rather impressed with her destructive capabilities, and will always try to egg her own in order to craft her into an even more badass swordsman.

You know, I liked where Beaks was going with this. I feel that with a bit of rewording and clarity, this could be a really cool thing.

Previous Version
Misc Perk Name: Signature Kidou
Prerequisites: 1,000 Reiatsu, 500 Kan
Description: As Shinigami and Vizards begin to tap into and explore their own powers, sometimes unique and unexpected results emerge. A character with this perk is capable of casting a Kidou spell utterly unique and singular to themselves alone, and not available to any other Shinigami or Vizard. The specifics of this spell are dependent on the RP'er that claims it, but must be submitted for approval by Kidou staff before it is capable of being used, and must be an original submission and cannot work off of any other spell in either the Hakuda tree or the Bakudou tree. Abilities similar to Kindou cannot be submitted.

Owners of the perk can submit a spell equal in power up to 50% of their total Kidou at time of submission, but cannot exceed 5,000 Kidou.

Misc Perk Name: Signature Kidou
Prerequisites: 1,000 Kidou, 500 Kan
Description: As Shinigami and Vizards begin to tap into and explore their own powers, sometimes unique and unexpected results emerge. Some casters find a spell that they feel highly comfortable with changing to suit their needs. Others may find themselves unable to cast a spell in its intended manner, but continue to use the caricature of the original. A few even cast the spell over and over in a deliberate attempt to warp its very nature. Nevertheless, the result is a kidou that has roots in an existing kidou but with a twist.

A character with this perk is capable of casting an altered version of an existing Kidou that is utterly unique and singular to themselves alone, and not available to any other Shinigami or Vizard. The specifics of this altered spell are dependent on the RP'er, but must be submitted for approval by Kidou staff before it is capable of being used, and must be an original submission.

Owners of the perk can submit a spell equal in power up to 50% of their total Kidou at time of submission, but cannot exceed 3,000 Kidou. To change the Kidou, one must rebuy the perk and submit the new kidou. Each character can only have one signature kidou at a time.

Kite's full release suite for review.

Undead

Undying
Whenever struck by a blow, Kite’s body demonstrates its ability to thwart corporeal harm. For each time it is struck, a level of resistance is acquired. Each level of resistance reduces the gravity of a wound by 1 level, and the effects can stack. Kite need not chose to expend the resistance at the time of the blow, and its availability continues through his release. May retain a maximum of three stacks, and gain only one per round.

Unyeilding - 15% Reiatsu/200 reiatsu
Tapping in to the other realm, between that of the living world and Soul Society, Kite can shift his body further into alignment with that mystical realm. The limits on Kite’s physical strength are lifted, to a degree. By paying the cost of Unyeilding, Kite enters a state of dominance over the physical world, becoming immune to physical forces that are equal to or weaker than his internalize. This would not stop a sword from cutting his body, but would allow him to halt flying cars or stand in topling buildings. For each time this cost is paid, the duration of the effect is 10 rounds.

Alternatively, Kite may pay 200 Reiatsu to manifest this as blunt force that can strike out at a distance up to 15 meters, carrying his magnified force with it.

Resonance - Undead - 500 Reiatsu per use
With a form no more bound to the physical world, Kite is able to push the capabilities of his body to a level to rival that of even a hollow’s vitality. By paying the cost of Undead, Kite’s body gains the ability to restore flesh lost and reverse damage done, reducing the severity of a wound by 1 degree, once per round.

True AwakeningAbomination

The Dead Cannot Die
With his body transcending the mortal realm in his True Awakening, corporeal harm holds next to no meaning to him. Any time Kite is struck by a blow, he may gain 2 levels of damage negation. He may chose to apply this to the attack at hand, reducing its level of damage by one degree per negation, or hold them in store for later. A maximum of four total levels may be held, and endure the length of the awakening. Otherwise this is similar to Undying.

The Dead Do Not Relent - 5% Reiatsu per Arm.
By paying the cost of this ability, Kite’s body becomes adorned with a spectral arm. These arms are not visible to plain sight, and endure for the remainder of his release. They carry with them all the potency and skill of his ability in combat, and can extend up to a range of 20m. Up to two may be manifested at a time.

I Am The Dead – 5% Reiatsu
Each round that Kite pays the cost of I Am The Dead, all wounds he has sustained decrease their severity by one level. This counts against his Fortitude Threshold.

OverdriveYou Are Dead, 2% cumulative
The final expression of his power, Kite has become a force beyond nature. He must pay the cost of his Overdrive each round, a steep price. However, for the price comes tremendous reward. While active, Kite is capable of nearly any feat of strength conceivable, toppling buildings, hurling tanks, and headbutting meteorites are all within the realm of possibility.

(Cumulative costs double each round they are active, 2% the first, 4% the second, 8% the third and so on.)

GM Reviewing Beaks' Shikai and Bankai

Rite of Rebellion
”When I hit’cha, you’re gonna feel it."

Shi Kai:

Rite of Rebellion

Release Phrase: “And Now...Everybody Dies!”

Appearance: An ordinary looking enough katana of standard length, save for a constant golden glow that permeates the blade.

Spirit: Rite of Rebellion takes the form of an incredibly large shirtless man. On his hands lie large knuckle dusters cobbled together from random bits of metal and giant screws. The sword keeps his mullet covered by a large red bandana, which would match his similarly red eyes if it were not for his impenetrable black sunglasses. To complete this ensemble, Rite of Rebellion sports an incredibly manly mustache, sprouting almost over his mouth.

The sword spirit completely reveres the ideal of "badass," which, to him, means explosions, fire, and generally loud noises. His voice, therefore, is an excited boom, and he is always berating Tsubaki about her inability to "blow shit up properly." In general, though, he is rather impressed with her destructive capabilities, and will always try to egg her on in order to craft her into an even more badass swordsman.

Ability: Boom-Proof-Badass - Nothing is more badass than explosions, with the exception of a badass standing unfazed in the middle of a badass explosion of badassitude. To this end, Tsubaki is entirely immune to any explosions she causes while her Shi Kai is active. This ability is active as long as her weapon is released.

Ability: Light The Fuse, Start The Anarchy – Once Tsubaki releases her weapon it becomes little more than a matter of time before something is reduced to a smoldering ruin. To further this end, for every round that transpires with the completion of certain conditions Tsubaki will generate stacks of Anarchy. These stacks improve her offensive capabilities by 1% per stack while making attacks against her more effective by 1% per stack as well. And what are these conditions, you ask?

- Dealing damage to an opponent

- Using an attack, ability, or Kidou besides her Shi Kai attack (At a generation rate of 1 stack per 1,000 Reiatsu spent).

- Receiving damage (At a generation rate of 1 stack per 1,000 Reiatsu spent on the attack).

- A natural generation of 1 stack per round if no other conditions are met.

If Tsubaki enters Ban Kai while stacks of unused Anarchy are present from her Shi Kai, they carry over.

Attack: Badass-Ball-Buster - For a cost of 20% of Tsubaki’s Reiatsu the blade of Rite of Rebellion is overcharged with explosive energies, making it a contact-based explosive for the next thing it comes in contact with. This explosion bursts outwards from Tsubaki herself with a radius of 10 meters. In addition, smaller detonations are triggered once this attack resolves with a damage value of 5% of the Reiatsu paid to utilize the attack. These miniature bombs carry no further cost, and are generated at a rate of 1 per stack of Anarchy that Tsubaki has accumulated. Once used in this manner however, the stacks are consumed.

Reasons for Review: Breaking it down below:

Light the Fuse:
- Provides a persistent buff.
- Buff accumulates at an extremely quick rate.
- Buff has no cap.
- Buff is free.

Ball-Buster:
- Provides a free 5% explosion per charge
- Stacks accumulate in such a rapid manner that this ability quickly eclipses a 100% output.

Axis of Anarchy
”I’m gonna smack the BITCH off you!”

Ban Kai:

Axis of Anarchy

Appearance: Upon transcending into Ban Kai Tsubaki is clad almost entirely from head to toe in black. Black heels, black hose, a black skirt and a black top to round out the ensemble. This outfit is complemented by a heavy leather duster dyed a deep shade of red, covered in haphazard patterns of whipstitched origin. The Zanpakutou itself remains largely unchanged, though the golden glow of destructive energies that constantly pulses throughout the blade is significantly brighter in its final release.

Ability: Anarchistic Aura - The moment Tsubaki enters her Ban Kai this ability becomes active, engulfing the woman in a 3 meter auric sphere that negates all colors aside from black, white, and red. While it can prove a stark contrast to the battlefield around her, the visual aspects of this ability are entirely cosmetic and belie the true purpose it represents.

As with Light The Fuse, Start The Anarchy Tsubaki is able to generate stacks of Anarchy in her Ban Kai based on several parameters. These include:

- Dealing damage to an opponent. (At a rate of 1 stack per 1,000 Reiatsu used in the connecting attack)

-Receiving damage from an opponent. (At a rate of 1 stack per 1,000 Reiatsu used in the connecting attack)

-Using an attack, ability of Kidou. (At a rate of 1 stack per 1,000 Reiatsu used)

-A natural generation of 1 stack per round regardless of whether other conditions are met.

Attack: Badass-Bonafide-Bitch-Burner - For a cost of 25% of Tsubaki’s Reiatsu the blade of Axis of Anarchy is overcharged with explosive energies, making it a contact-based explosive for the next thing it comes in contact with. This explosion bursts outwards from Tsubaki herself with an initial Area of Effect of 10 Meters. This attack generates an additional 1 stack of Anarchy per 1,000 Reiatsu spent in addition to the stacks generated normally.

Attack: Badass-Heavenly Body-Butt-Blasting-Boom-To-End-All-Boom-Booms. Bitch. - The final weapon in Tsubaki’s badass arsenal, BHBBBBTEABBB is nothing less than a white knuckle thrill ride into finding out just how big an explosion can get. At a cost of 100% of her remaining Reiatsu, the blade of Axis of Anarchy is supercharged, so volatile that the very next thing that it touches will cause the weapon to explode. This attack has an initial AOE of 30 meters, expanding both horizontally and vertically at a rate of 3 meters per 1,000 Reiatsu spent to pay its cost.

Upon detonation, smaller explosions are ignited at the point of contact. These smaller detonations are equal in power to 5% of the cost spent on BHBBBBTEABBB and occur at a rate of 1 per stack of Anarchy consumed on this attack.

The noise generated by this attack is substantial, starting at a rate of around 150 dB near the center of the blast and tapering off to around 100 dB at the fringes of the explosion. It is also said that in addition to the noise of the explosion itself one can hear the screams of Tyrannosaurus Rexes and totally fucking sweet guitar solos emanate from the epicenter of the epic explosion of epicness.

After the explosion concludes, Tsubaki’s Ban Kai is forced back into a dormant state.

Reasons for Review: Breaking it down below:

Anarchistic Aura:
- Same reasons as Light the Fuse, but these ones generate even faster.

Bitch-Burner:
- Generates more of these persistent stat buffs for free.
EDIT: - This is a self-scaling attack. Tsubaki uses the attack which generates charges naturally (1 per 1,000 reiatsu), and the ability itself further generates another stack per 1,000 reiatsu. With the damage amp in Bankai now affecting release abilities, this attack scales at a rate that quickly eclipses his final attack and only costs 25% of his reiatsu.

Boom-To-End-All-Booms:
- A 100% Reiatsu attack should not be a thing.
- Receives free output from the Anarchy stacks.
- The sheer range of this can instantly overwhelm any distance that could be conceivably covered.
- He's not even fucking trying.

Proposed Changes:
- Buffs should not be persistent.
- Buffs should not be free.
- Attacks should not get free output from a free buff.
- Attacks should not have ridiculous cost/effect ratios.
- Just because you take more damage does not mean it's okay to deal more damage.

Since that hasn't happened, approved as below:

He may chose to apply this to the attack at hand, reducing its level of damage by one degree per negation, or hold them in store for later. A maximum of four total levels may be held, and endure the length of the awakening. Otherwise this is similar to Undying.

The Dead Do Not Relent - 5% Reiatsu per Arm

To maintain the ability, Kite must pay a cumulative 2% per round (2nd round 4%, 3rd round 6%, 4th round 8%, 5th round 10%, and so on).

Unyielding was adjusted to a reduced cost on the main ability but increased cost on the alternate use.

You Are Dead had its cumulative cost re-clarified to be additive (basically [cost of previous round] + [base cost of 2%]) rather than doubling wildly.

Other than that, this is ready to go. Sorry for the delay.

Some of the problems are a matter of confusing wording, but the concerns about stacking to infinity are very real. Revised and approved as below:

Rite of Rebellion Original

To further this end, for every round that transpires with the completion of certain conditions Tsubaki will generate stacks of Anarchy, up to a maximum of 10 stacks. These stacks increase the raw strength of her melee attacks by 1% of her reiatsu per stack. And what are these conditions, you ask? A badass doesn't get caught up in petty details: dealing damage to an opponent or receiving damage from an opponent each add stacks at a rate of 1 per 1,000 reiatsu of the attack's strength. A maximum of 5 stacks can be gained per round.

If Tsubaki enters Ban Kai while stacks of unused Anarchy are present from her Shi Kai, they carry over, but all stacks are forfeited when the zanpakuto is sealed or if not used within ten rounds.

Attack: Badass-Ball-Buster - For a cost of 20% of Tsubaki’s Reiatsu the blade of Rite of Rebellion is overcharged with explosive energies, making it a contact-based explosive for the next thing unlucky enough to meet its blade. This explosion bursts outwards from Tsubaki herself with a radius of 10 meters. In addition, for each stack of Anarchy, a smaller detonations is triggered with a damage value of 1% of Tsubaki's reiatsu. These miniature bombs detonate anywhere within that 10m radius, each with its own blast radius of 1m. In a true blaze of badass glory, Tsubaki holds nothing back: this attack consumes every stack of Anarchy at once.

Axis of Anarchy Original

Changes:

Shikai:
Boom-Proof Badass works on explosions created by the kai. Not on any other feats, kidou, or abilities that might be considered explosions (looking at Kidou Zero here).

Light the Fuse, Start the Anarchy has a cap of 10 stacks in Shikai, max gain of 5 stacks per round. It does not auto-generate stacks, but will generate based on the strength of an attack, not its cost. That means that if Tsu has 50,000 Zanjutsu, and successfully strikes an opponent with a zanjutsu strike, she will accrue 5 stacks of Anarchy (a standard melee attack is valued at 10% of the attacking stat, so 5,000 in this example). It's contingent on actually dealing or being dealt damage, though. Whiffing attacks is not very badass. If an enemy is shielded, you need to shatter that shield.

For BBB, added some simplified verbiage on the mini-bombs. The original description says "5% of the cost paid" -- 5% of the 20% cost = 1% so let's just call it 1%. You didn't really explain what the smaller explosions could do, so I added some detail there as well. Stacks are lost when the zan is sealed or if too much time is spent idle (no using Perma-release to keep stacks indefinitely).

Bankai:
Anarchistic Aura, same as Light the Fuse, does not auto-generate stacks. It caps at 20 stacks, max gain of 5 stacks per round. Since there are only three abilities in this kai, I'm just going to add Boom-Proof Badass to Anarchistic Aura, rather than snidely point out that Tsubaki explodes herself in Bankai as it's currently written.

BBBB does not generate additional stacks beyond the norm. It only generates stacks if it hits a target, and if an enemy is shielded, you need to shatter that shield for it to count. Explosions without payoff might as well be firecrackers.

BHBBBBTEABBB is reigned in. Stacks of Anarchy increase its range, but the cost itself is not self-enhancing. Strength remains at the cost paid. Also, 100% reiatsu will end the fight for Tsubaki. No amount of willpower will let you jump back in after that. To even attempt to do so is the same as saying you held back and were afraid of giving 100%.

Tsubaki will be left unconscious, and if she doesn't finish the job, will be an easy target for whoever lives through that. Note that even with these restrictions, this attack can utterly destroy everything within a 90m radius. Your allies aren't immune to explosions. Be careful about where you use it.

Denied.

I'll resub this in Release Submission before I take this much of an astronomical neutering. Because with the proposed changes I may as well not even release.

Having fun are we?

GM Reviews aren't negotiable, and I'm not dicking around like this anymore.

Even this version is insanely powerful. The shikai enjoys a potential 150% return on the cost of its final attack. Both versions have ridiculously good damage buffs (10% shikai, 20% bankai) at no upkeep cost, as long as you're dealing or receiving enough damage. The maximum range is utterly absurd and is 3x the range of any other Bankai attack.

From this point forward, all of your submissions come through me, and they're only going to get weaker from here.

Item - Kiro Shenrai

[ Omoni ] - "To Bear Burden"
[ A-Tier Item ]

[ Item Appearance ]
A pair of simple metal bracers - stained a matte black so as to be hard to distinguish against the surface of a kosode. Upon closer inspection, the crest of the Amaterasu family is visible on the wrists.

[ Item Ability ]
When inactive, the bracers are ordinary, if highly durable, armor capable of deflecting or parrying certain blows with enough skill.

However, by paying 2000 of his reiatsu, the bracers immediately seize to Kiro's arms - locking in place and becoming impossible to remove unless he, or an Amaterasu house member deactivates them. The bracers immediately suppress Kiro's reiatsu to the point of near nothing, his signature appearing as no more than a regular human's.

Consequently, while active he is highly restricted in his ability to utilize reiatsu. Once active, Kiro may only spend reiatsu up to the amount paid into Omoni - and no more. The bracers may be deactivated through a simple phrase - much the same as a zanpakuto.

[ Acquisition ]
After a sparring accident, Kiro's zanpakuto shattered and his soul was damaged permanently, resulting in him constantly exuding a corrosive energy. Due to the circumstances surrounding the event, Amaterasu Nana created Omoni as both gesture to his dedication to the house Amaterasu, and as appeasement for Lucia who sparked the event.

As part of my operations as Kidou staff, I am requesting GM review of Kindou.

Kindou
Kindou [Way of Forbidden Words] Trained StyleA branch of demon magic that so tested the fabric of reality that it was sealed away, forbidden to be taught. The spells that fall under this mantle bend laws that were never meant to be tampered with.
No longer monitored as closely as centuries past, the knowledge of the forbidden spells has been discovered and surreptitiously spread. Only accessible to those of paramount skill in the demon arts, these Kindou require a full round's concentration and a complete incantation to cast.
Training: In order to learn Kindou, it is necessary to find a practitioner who has mastered it. It is a skill that cannot be taught by just anyone, as it involves transcending the natural laws of the universe. To be considered a master, a practitioner must have used all Kindou spells at least once and must have a minimum of 25,000 Kidou; after attaining this, a GM may approve the character as a master.

The reason for this review is the text of the ability does not match the function of the ability as discussed with Will. Primarily, that no other feat, tech, kai or otherwise ability may affect or augment kindou's casting. Will went as far as to say Sayis' unique feat doesn't effect kindou, yet the ability does not state such. I will honestly say there aren't many instances of violation of this at present, but when discussing kindou with someone it was brought to my attention that the wording didn't match my understanding, and it did not match the GM's understanding.

Raph:

Omoni - Approved w/ changes

You can forego the initial payment to lock the gauntlets, since there's no real benefit here other than to suppress your caustic reiatsu. Other than that, the item is fine, if rather tame for an A-Rank. Whatever floats your boat.

Katie:

Kindou changes - Denied

Kindou is strong enough as it is. Removing the vulnerability of the casting pushes the skill so far into "overpowered" territory that it's laughable.

That being said, we recognize that there's some clarification to be done in terms of what does and does not affect Kindou.

The casting of Kidou, no matter which school of spell or how forbidden it may be, can most certainly have its cast interrupted. Kindou is no different. Where Kindou does differ is in the way tertiary abilities affect the spell itself.

Kindou cannot have its incantation or cast time shortened by an outside ability. The casting is the one vulnerability to Kindou.

Abilities that may otherwise effect the efficacy of a spell, either increasing or decreasing its potency or duration after the cast will not affect Kindou. That means that once the incantation is complete and the spell has been cast, it is no longer subject to any outside ability -- from friend or foe -- until it has run its course.

So yes, your interpretation was partially correct. Kindou is largely unaffected by tertiary spells and abilities, but the casting of Kindou is not subject to these same regulations.

You misunderstood my interpretations, understandable given the fact that everyone assumes me to be drunk on power or trying to make my character a living god or something. Still, the wild misinterpretation of my request is fine because I got most of what I wanted, however, I resbumit it for GM review specifically to add that Kindou may not benefit from techniques like Izonkonkei, Kenkyouka and so on. I wanted to eliminate the various abilities that could POSITIVELY effect kindou completely and unequivocally.

These types of abilities fall under the outside effects covered by the revised wording and my explanation, so there's nothing to worry about there. I'm aware that several folks (my colleague included >_>) have used these abilities to enhance Kindou.

As of now, that's not allowed.

/GM'd
